The Heartland Region and Cedar Valley Chapter invite you to join us in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, April 22-26, 2009 to enjoy fun, fri

Tanja Berlin now lives in Calgary but was originally from Dorset, England. She attended the three year apprenticeship course at the Royal School of Needlework, studying all types of hand embroidery, and then spent two years in the workroom as a member of staff, working on restoration, conservation and commissioned projects. She teaches and maintains her website where all her kits and designs are featured. Tanja has had articles published in Inspirations and five of her needle painting designs featured in “A-Z of Thread Painting”

Jonalene Gutwein has been a member of EGA for over 30 years. She has been teaching needlework for 27 of those years at the chapter, region and national level. She has published over 40 books and has written three GCCs and is currently writing a GCC and an ICC.

Sharon Lynch has been involved with needlework for 35 years; as a shopowner, EGA member, teacher, and framer/finisher. She served as Dean of Faculty for the National Seminars in 1993 and 2004. Semi-retired, she is working on what is possibly the largest stash of "someday" projects in the region!

Betty Chen Louis was born in Peking. She holds a B.A. from Mount Holyoke, studied color and design with Patricia Lambert, and apprenticed with Rita Klein of New York. Betty has done research in the textile rooms of museums in the US, Canada and Asia. She has taught at ANG and EGA nationals, CAE, NAN, Callaway, EAC and the Melbourne Seminar. Her special interests include color and design as it applies to needlework.

Lynn Payette has taught for over 38 years at all levels for EGA, ANG, EAC (Canada); Callaway; NAN, Quilt guilds; Continuing Education; Adult Education; shops; and her own Studio. She has won numerous awards. She has designed for Janlynn Corp., Ibex Designs, and Custom House; and has published in many magazines She teaches mixed media, multi fiber techniques, Crewel, Silk and Metal, Stumpwork, Brazilian, Needlelace, Silk ribbon, Doll making, Beading and Clothing embellishment.

Deanna Powell has exhibited, lectured and taught embellished clothing, beading and various needlearts nationally for thirty years. She is an EGA certified teacher, certified graduate teacher and former EGA national president. Deanna is a charter member of Fiber Forum, an EGA group formed to advance the perception of  needlework as an art form.

Marnie Ritter has taught needle art for over thirty years for ANG, EGA , Callaway Gardens, Kent State University, NAN, as well as Guilds and shops. She has certification in Surface Stitchery from The Council of Embroiderers as well as experience in judging, television and publishing. She has served as various officers for the Colorado Chapter of EGA since 1995. In 2006 she was awarded the honorable Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Needlearts

Carolyn Standing Webb has a degree in education but finds needlework much more rewarding to teach. She grew up in a home where art was a part of everyday life and creativity was encouraged. She has studied many techniques in the US and in China. She has been a needlework designer and teacher for over twenty years; teaching on local, regional and national levels. Her work has been published in magazines and she has won a number of prizes for her needlework. She has her Master Craftsman in counted thread.
