When can we play on the playground?
After the mulch has been put down. This is scheduled the weekend of August 8th!.
When will the footings be filled with cement?
Matt Burger has graciously donated his services with Iowa Walls to fill the footings with cement on Tuesday July 29th. Thanks Matt!
When is the install date?
July 26th, 2008! We will start at 7:30am and work throughout the day. There will be 4 teams of people to install the equipment. One team for each structure and one for the basketball hoops,swings, and funnel ball.
How many people are needed?
As many as possible, but you need to be 18 or older.
Do I need to have any skills?
No, there are plenty of jobs to do without construction experience.
What tools are needed?
The list of tools needed will be posted on the website July 15th. Please make sure all tools etc... are clearly marked with your name.
Will food be served?
We would like to have a few people serving food and water throughout the day. Let us know if you are interested in leading in this area.
Will childcare be provided?Not at this time.
When will the footings be dug?
The week prior to install Joe Kruser with Kruser Excavating has donated his equipment and time to help us Excavate the property for proper drainage and prepare the footings for installation day. Thanks Joe!!
Who will Benefit?
All St. Joseph preschool and school children and teachers; all parish children and their families as well as children and adults from the local community.
What is unique about this project?
We will be including a walking trail with benches and brick inlay, basketball hoops, tetherball and a practice soccer field as well as three age-specific structures and swings.
Is this necessary? Why not just update?
Playground safety regulations have changed. If additions/ changes are made, the current equipment will no longer enjoy the "grandfather" status they now do.
How will the money be raised?
An aggressive campaign incorporating individual donors, business gifts, grants and fundraising events.
Why should I help?
You'll put a smile on a child's face, a spring in an older persons' step, and mortar in the foundation for health in our community.
