Only 4% of all Scouts attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Troop 188 has exceeded
that percentage over the last several years. In order to continue providing
the best support and assistance, Troop 188 has adopted the following procedures
for Life Scouts interested in completing their Eagle Scout Rank advancement.
1. Life Scouts must have completed at least 1 service project prior
to starting to plan an Eagle Scout Leadership project. The service project
must be approved by the Scoutmaster and the Patrol Leaders Council before
it is started. |
| 2. Life Scouts MUST meet with Mr. Bill West, Troop Eagle
Scout Advisor, BEFORE ANY work is done toward the Eagle project. He can
be reached via email at eagle1968@aol.com. Mr. West
will provide the following to each scout: |
| |
A copy of the T188 Service Project Plan form. |
| |
Guidance on the scope of the service project to be conducted. |
| |
Guidance in writing the Project Plan before formal review. |
| |
Guidance in completing the Eagle Scout Leadership Project Plan book
prior to the Eagle Scout Board of Review. |
| |
A meeting with the scout and his parents to explain the procedures
for selecting an Eagle project and the level of parent involvement. |
| |
A meeting to address other Eagle Scout requirements outside of the
Leadership project. |
| 3. Life Scouts will wear their Class A uniform to all meetings
relating to Eagle Rank advancement including meetings for the Leadership
project. |
| 4. Once the planning section of the project plan has been
approved by Mr. West, the Troop Advancement Chair will be contacted to
arrange an Eagle Scout Project Board of Review. |
Exceptions must have the approval of both the Scoutmaster and Mr. West.
