Our Chapter
Meetings are held the third Thursday of the month from September through June. Meetings are educational and social and are designed to accommodate members’ interests. It’s always fun to find out about a new stitching technique or idea as well as exploring the traditional embroidery techniques. After a short business meeting, there may be a “hands on” project or technique intended to increase our knowledge or expertise. Guest speakers and other presentations may be part of the meeting. There may even be projects created especially for the Valley Junction Chapter. We share our accomplishments at each meeting with a Show ‘n’ Tell session. This is a time for members to share their needlework accomplishments with others, share something of interest with the group, and have questions answered along with other things.

Benefits of Belonging
One of the benefits of belonging to a needleart group is getting to know other individuals who share your interest in needlearts. Great friendships have been developed through chapter activities. We are always happy to welcome new members to Valley Junction EGA. If you have just started to learn embroidery or are extremely skilled or fall somewhere in between, we are glad to have you join us. Our membership represents all levels of skill and interest in a variety of stitching techniques. Other learning opportunities are available at the Spring and Fall Region meetings and the annual National Seminar. Classes are offered by renowned teachers in all embroidery techniques.. Valley Junction also has Study Groups, Workshops, Retreats, and Field Trips to further your needlework skills, expand your knowledge, and provide fellowship with other members.

Activities of our Group
An important part of our activities is our Community Service. Members are active in stitching and/or donating time and resources to the following: • Baptismal Shawls for Mercy Medical Center • Baptismal Napkins for Grace Lutheran Church • Wee Care Gowns for Broadlawns Hospital • Sponsorship of premiums for youth awards in the needework category and the Susan Colle’ Hardanger award at the Iowa State Fair • Kissing Pillows for our deployed soldiers • Samplers for Habitat for Humanity
