My Eyes See, My Ears Hear, My Hands Serve

We're building a better world through Civitans. With a focus on the developmentally disabled, the Special Olympics gives us a unique opportunity to give joy to a special group of people and involve the public too. We support New Day Products through contributions and fund raisers.

What We Believe

The mission of Civitan International strives to promote the three principle goals of fellowship with one another, knowledge about the community at-large, and service to others. If these three principles are in balance, as a member you can serve more effectively while, at the same time, share experiences and relationships that will enhance your life.

Purpose of a Civitan Club

Membership in Civitan is open to anyone, without regard to race, creed, or color, who is at least 18 years old and of good moral character. Clubs have a great deal of latitude democratically deciding whom to become members.

The club's purposes is to serve the community, provide opportunities for member's fellowship, and increase members' knowledge. This is done by identifying needs not met by other organizations or individual efforts. In all they do, Civitans seek experiences that provide life direction, character building, leadership development, and the satisfaction of helping others. As the result of this, a Civitan typically experiences a heightened sense of self-esteem and accomplishment.

Annual Civitan/SEICAA Christmas Party

Civitans work with SEICAA, Powers Candy, US Marine Corp Toys for Tots Bowling Tournament and the Junior Civitans (from the local high schools) to make a special day for those less fortunate. Children are entertained by Hawthorne Jr. High Choir, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa and their elf.

Mr. and Mrs. Santa were, of course, the hit of the party, spending time with each child and distributing the gifts. The children also received big bags of candy and fruit.

Mission Statement The mission of Civitan woldwide is to unite a volunteer association of clubs to serve individual and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with mental retardation and development disabilities.
