Spring 2010 Tryout Guidelines Portneuf
Valley Soccer Club Description
of Programs, Spring 2010 U13-18 Age
Groups For the Spring 2010 season, the U13-18
girls and boys will be assigned to either single- or dual-age teams. Single-age teams will be made for age groups
with sufficient players to create and sustain a team, while dual-age teams will
be made where there are insufficient players. Preliminary team configurations
for Spring 2010 include Premier Teams for U13G, U14G, U15/16G, U17/18G and
U13B, U14B, U15/16B, U17/18B, and Select Teams for the U13/14G. More teams will
be added as necessary, and final decision on team configuration will be made
after Tryouts. Tryouts,
Assessment, and Team Assignment Each player will be assigned to a team
based on assessment at three different times: during the previous PVSC season
(Spring 2009), during the previous high school or middle school season (Fall
2009), and during Tryouts. A player’s
performance during all of these times will contribute to their overall ranking
and team assignment. All soccer clubs including PVSC are
required by the U.S. Youth Soccer Association to conduct open Tryouts. All players must attend unless injured, in
which case they should contact PVSC before Tryouts begin. PVSC Tryouts for all age groups for the
Spring 2010 season will take place in late October, 2009. Players will be notified of their team
assignment in November, 2009. Team
Descriptions Premier and Select teams for an age group
will coordinate with one another. During
the season, players may be temporarily re-assigned to the other team depending
upon ongoing assessment of their skills, attitude, and health. Premier
Teams will play in the Snake River
League and five tournaments including State Cup. Players have very good skills for their age
and are expected to make a strong commitment to attending all practices,
matches, and tournaments. Cost for the
season will be $400. These funds will be used to pay for equipment, field
maintenance, coaches, referees, insurance, and registration for five
tournaments. Select
Teams will play in the Snake River League and three
tournaments such as the Portneuf Valley Spring Classic, Friendship Cup, and
Idaho Falls Shootout. Select players
have good skills for their age and are expected to attend all practices,
matches, and tournaments. Practice
sessions will emphasize the improvement of technical skills. Cost for the season will be $300. These funds
will be used to pay for equipment, field maintenance, coaches, referees,
insurance, and registration for three tournaments. |
