    Memorial to Bob Auth

Our Inkspots logo (to the left) was designed by Bob Auth

The Bob Auth I knew was a kind, creative, fun and talented man. I met Bob at a calligraphy event. I thought he was a fellow calligraphy artist, and we became fast friends. As I got to know Bob better, he was so much more than a calligraphic artist; calligraphy just happen to be one of those arts he did and did well.

He was always eager to learn something new. He attended and encouraged me to attend the International Calligraphy Conferences to get a bigger picture of the world of calligraphy. Boy, did that ever open up my idea of the calligraphy world.

I talked to him about making paper. I had read some information on the process and wanted to try it. Before I knew it there was a role of felts on my door step that I would need to use in my papermaking project. I asked him how and where he got these felts and he said he got them from a paper making plant in Lewiston and was going to use them sometime, but didn't know when, so I might as well have them. He also helped me figure out other calligraphy projects. He had a keen sense of artistic balance, color, and flair.

My husband, Tom, even enjoyed his notes and cards to us not only beautifully written out but also illustrating our time spent together. He always had great stamps attached to all of his mailers & envelopes.
    His return address read:
    Captain Midnight
    Somewhere over the Rainbow
    Or Yeller Pine, ID.

Well, my Friend, Farewell and God's Speed to You,
    Somewhere over the Rainbow!
    Love you! Cookie Sorge
