Personality: While Shadow's personality has evolved countless times through his "adventures", certain traits will never change, and some have left him completely. The most noticeable feature that has left him would be his attachment to the voices controlling him; Maria and Gerald. Originally, Shadow's personality was but a mix of these two. A "copy" of Maria Robotnik's soul forcefully "programmed" into his mind by the late Gerald Robotnik, as well as a copy of his own soul, his lies and his treacheries; that was what drove Shadow around. When he first woke up, Gerald's side won the struggle and controlled Shadow, which led for an unhealthy thirst for revenge. During this, he met Amy who talked sense into him; Maria's side won the struggle and made Shadow realize that he had to make the world happy; this led to his sacrifice. Upon waking up, he didn't seem to be under any side's orders; he did what he felt like, for once. Soon enough, though, random outbursts led to think that Gerald was in the lead; and yet, when his love for Amy was finally let out, Maria was in the lead. For a rather long time, Maria's personality kept the upper hand. He lived with Amy and even (to the fans' disgust, that is to say, you who is reading, you probably won't like this, but screw you, it was done in-character through months and months of social scenes with Amy) had a child which they, SURPRISINGLY, named Maria. At this point on, Gerald had no hope of winning; ever. That is, until one unfortunate accident threw Amy and Shadow apart. Maria's soul was destroyed in the process and Gerald took full control of Shadow; thanks to Beangirl's forceful programming as well, nothing should've freed the hedgehog from the devil's grasp. That is, until he got shot in the head by G.U.N's special forces. While the shot didn't cause, through some luck, major damage, it completely destroyed Gerald and Beangirl's programming. So what now? Shadow the Hedgehog is a free soul, that's what.

While he still considers Maria Robotnik as someone to look up to and who deserves to have her memory kept safe and be forever remembered, he wouldn't go quite as far as getting himself killed over it; even though he'd go pretty damn far for it no less. Sadly, you can't change someone's habits. Shadow is still fairly antisocial and would rather keep his clapper shut than open when around others. He only does things when they represent a gain for himself or for someone he'd like to support; a gain, however, is a very vast term. Entertaining himself would be considered a gain. Before the change, Shadow was rather intolerant, but he's more wise now. Almost dying, and freeing his mind, made him a bit easier to get along with; that, and he doesn't instantly dislike people unless they do something for it. While violence is still his number one way to solve a problem, he takes some extra time now to actually go through and carry his threats. One other thing that's obvious with the hedgehog is that he lacks charisma. If not for his unbelievable power, he'd be unable to control a crowd through speech alone. He's no public orator; he's an action guy, he'd rather do something than think about it. He leaves the thinking bit to people like Tails and Rouge, usually, and just leaps into the fray to have himself a slice of fun. Another odd thing about him would be his constant need to rival others; whether it's Sonic the Hedgehog or some other mobian (or human, even) such as Guide, anyone who offers him a good fight or a good, fun ride, will probably be harassed by Shadow again. Note that, in such cases, Shadow would never aim to "kill" as he respects whoever can stand up to him. It's ironic in such cases; while Sonic is probably the one he insults the most, he's also the one he respects the most. What else is there to Shadow? Willpower, of course! It's almost impossible to manipulate Shadow, one way or another; that is, mentally. He's clever and much wiser than one would think he is. That, and he loves to take risks. Tell yourself something: if you manage to trick Shadow, he's probably tricking you himself. Aside from that, there's his unhealthy determination to reach the goals he sets in front of himself. This determination is only backed up by his overconfidence, being the so-called "Ultimate Life Form" that Gerald Robotnik created and having a power only matched by Sonic the Hedgehog in desperate situations. And of course, there's.. love. Yes, Shadow the Hedgehog can love too, but that's something only Amy is allowed to taste. It drives the black hedgehog even further. One can only pity whoever has the guts to touch Amy Rose; he's going to have a rabid hedgehog on his ass before he can even figure out what the Hell is happening. And that's about it; Shadow in a nutshell. Backstory: Backstory: Professor Gerald Robotnik's Archives: Shadow's past is rather hazy, and it's hard to make most of it into a story that holds together. From fake and programmed memories, to missing chunks and even damaged ones, it all goes on to say the black Hedgehog has been through so much. Everything starts about sixty years ago, when the professor Gerald Robotnik sets a laboratory on the ARK with funds from G.U.N. (promising them a weapon) to research, instead, a cure for Maria Robotnik's illness, NIDS, which stands for Neuro-Immuno Defiency Syndrome. During some research back on Mobius, he finds the Gizoid, an ancient robot of unbelievable power. This Gizoid actually wiped out the Fourth Great Civilization more than 4000 years ago. At first he thought nothing of it, but when it started reacting to Chaos Emeralds, Gerald could not help but see what he could find out. Gizoid stands for Everything, and the robot would soon ask the man to "show him his real strength". After establishing a link with the Gizoid, Gerald pushes his researches again, trying to do everything he can do prevent G.U.N. from using him for evil deeds. However, the organization soon threatens to shut down his research, so Gerald leaves the Gizoid on Ark and heads for Mobius to push some researches right after the prototype for Shadow, the Bio Lizard, is completed. Shortly after his arrival on the planet, however, Gerald hears of bad things. The Gizoid absorbed weaponry and went out of control, rampaging through the space colony and causing the Bio Lizard to go berserk as well. Maria was on the list of victims who fell to the Gizoid's hands. Both he and the Lizard were sealed away, and Gerald was able to get him back as the Ark was shut down. Working on Shadow from there on, Gerald wished to see both of them be more than weapons, while at the same time being his tool for revenge. Maria's last words, "Bring hope to humanity." inspired Gerald to make the activation key to the Gizoid "Hope". He programmed a "virtual" copy of Maria's soul, which he installed into the Gizoid so that it would not get out of control again, and into Shadow. However, G.U.N. pushed him again, and he had no choice. Inside Shadow's brain, he put "fake" memories, meant to trigger some unexplained rage into the Hedgehog, a desire to wipe out G.U.N. for killing Maria. Shadow was sealed, after, by Gerald, who used a Chaos Emerald to ensure it would be safe, and then set the password to Maria. He hid the Gizoid, and was later taken in custody by G.U.N., during which he programmed from afar certain protocols inside the Ark so that, if things went right, it would not only crash into Mobius, but show to the entire world what happened. He was later executed. Fake Memories: As said above, Shadow's mind is filled with "fake" memories. Those were programmed by Gerald Robotnik into Shadow's brain to obtain revenge. Shadow only remembers so much: he believes he was created on Ark, and grew up with Maria Robotnik for a few months while the Bio Lizard also evolved. When the Bio Lizard went berserk, and shortly after it was sealed away by G.U.N., the organization took the colony over to obtain Shadow, who was meant to be a weapon for them and a cure for Maria's disease. Shadow and Maria both made it to the escape pods, however, when G.U.N. stepped in, Maria pushed Shadow in one of the pods, making him promise he would remember this. She was shot down as she activated the pods, ejecting Shadow to Mobius, who was later picked up by G.U.N. and locked away due to his potential. At first, he thought this meant revenge, but he later, thanks to Amy, changed his mind and put it as peace. Maria made him promise peace. Sonic Adventure 2: About fifty years after his very creation, Shadow was awakened by Doctor Ivo Robotnik, also known as Eggman, who would be called Gerald's grand-son, given he is Maria's cousin. The key to unlocking him from his pod was simple; the silver Chaos Emerald and the password, Maria. As soon as he was unsealed, however, security arrived. Destroying the G.U.N. robot (B-3X Hot Shot) and ultimately showing off, he told Eggman to meet him on ARK and left, pursued by G.U.N. as he found his way to the space station. Sonic was mistaken for Shadow all along and constantly had troubles with G.U.N.. Once at the ARK, Shadow, Rouge and Eggman devised plans to get their hands on both the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds. Stealing them one by one through multiple adventures and whatnot, Prison Isle was destroyed just as Shadow saved Rouge (but said he only did that to save the Emeralds). Multiple times they would find themselves facing off with the good guys, until it finally came to the moment of truth. Shadow versus Sonic, a single race to see who'd reach the Eclipse Cannon first. Both tied, actually, and it came to be that the Eclipse Cannon, after blowing up half of the Moon using six Emeralds a few days earlier, now had all seven Emeralds. It fired- but failed to. All over Mobius, Gerald's voice could be heard. "REVENGE!" he called. The power was too much, and it turned out once all seven Emeralds were in, it wasn't even meant to fire. It was meant to awaken the Ultimate Life Form Prototype to Shadow, the Biolizard. Since the Ark was going to crash into Mobius, the two teams, Good and Evil, had to cooperate to open the hatches and get to the Cannon Core to deactivate it and get the Emeralds back. Finally, Shadow fought the actual Biolizard alone and trashed it on the ground using his own power. But it wasn't over yet. The Bio Lizard used Chaos Control and warped itself outside, fusing itself with he Eclipse Cannon to continue guiding the colony toward the planet. The Final Hazard/Lizard was born. Super Sonic and Super Shadow fought the beast in space, and when it was defeated, ARK was hurled toward Mobius as Gerald had programmed it to be.

Using the last of their power, Shadow in particular, the two Hedgehogs Chaos Controlled the colony back where it belonged, on orbit. Shadow was sent falling toward Mobius afterward.. Sonic Heroes: After the fight with the Biolizard / Final Hazard, it's unknown what truly happened to Shadow. He fell through the atmosphere and, through unknown means, ended up in a pod inside one of Eggman's laboratories, probably picked up during his fight by badniks of some sort. Giant nets, maybe? His genetic code was cloned as he was kept sealed and Eggman made copies of Shadow which he, however, never got to use. He stored them on some sort of air fleet which later crashed. What happened to the clones is not known. Not too long after the was 'cloned' and whatnot, he was found by Rouge who restored him 'back to life' by freeing him from his pod. Upon being freed, he found himself working with Rouge and 'E-123' Omega, both of which had all reasons to go after the Eggman. Though he kept claiming he had lost his memories of what had happened before all of this, it was obvious it was not the case since, when Rouge declared her need to get the Master Emerald, he said "Some things never change..". Crushing through the trials one by one, the team nicknamed 'Team Dark' was able to defeat Robotnik and Metal Sonic, having multiple face-offs with the other teams but all of them ending in ties. Sonic Battle: Shadow, all this time, however, wasn't fully recovered, and at the end of all these exploits, he had to undergo some sort of 'sleeping' period to get back on his feet correctly. This is when Gizoid came back on the scene. Kicked out by Robotnik after he stole a Chaos Emerald, 'Emerl' linked himself with Sonic just as Shadow arrived. He was defeated by Sonic, given he wasn't at full force. The story evolved with Shadow staying at Rouge's club, mostly to sleep and do some researches on Gizoid. He would from times to times, drop by Tails' house to try and destroy the Gizoid himself before it was too late. Eventually he stopped trying to fight while weakened and decided to warn them before returning to sleep. Gizoid was finally destroyed onboard the Death Egg by Sonic after Shadow activated him and powered him up to his full extent, activating the 'Maria Soul' in him using the sentence 'Bring hope to humanity' and providing him with the final Chaos Emerald which he himself possessed. After this, no one knows what really happened to Shadow. He left all public sight for about six years, probably staying with Rouge all this time. He reappeared just recently, first to rival Sonic, then to help save the world some more, defeating Eggman over and over again. Shadow the Hedgehog: THE EVENTS IN THIS GAME ARE NOT CONSIDERED CANON BECAUSE IT SUCKS. HAHA. PWNED. :D No seriously. I think it sucks. :( (Storyline: Hyper Robotnik): One of Eggman's plots, however, involved tricking Shadow into thinking he could bring back Maria using all seven Emeralds. Shadow gathered them with ease and was blasted away by the newly transformed Hyper Robotnik who lost no time in trying to conquer Mobius again. Shadow and Sonic, using all seven Chaos Emeralds, turned into their 'Super' forms and threw their best blasts at the titan, sending him back to his HQ without the Emeralds. Shadow kept the belt, called the E-Emerald-Belt, which works in a similar way to his wristband. Chaos Emeralds shrink when in contact with it and can be stored and used without any contact being made while in it. Eggman defeated, he had to find a new way to conquer the world. Doing this, the two Hedgehogs also stole the Egg Carrier Mark Two from Eggman and renamed it to the Hurricane. (Storyline: The Dark Chaos Emeralds): His (Eggman's) next plot involved visiting an alternate dimension where Kintobor, a thin version of Robotnik, sealed ALL the evil of the planet inside the Chaos Emeralds. In this world, Shadow exists but as a good person, not as a weapon. Maria also exists, given all the evil was sealed away and G.U.N. could not stop Gerald's researches to find a cure. Thusly, the now immortal Maria was kidnapped by Eggman along with the seven Emeralds of that world, the Dark Chaos Emeralds. He used Maria to threaten Shadow and got him to, once again, do the collecting job. He fooled Robotnik into freeing Maria and then turned onto him by stealing one of the Emeralds. A fight broke out, and albeit Shadow, Tails and Cynik went Super, they were not motivated enough to prevent the loss of that final Emerald. Eggman used the seven Dark Chaos Emeralds to turn into Seven Sins, his body mutating into a gigantic demon controlled by the spirits of the seven sins sealed in the Emeralds. Shadow along with Mikomi went Super to attempt and throw him off, executing what he and Sonic had done long ago to save Mobius from the ARK and the Final Hazard. A dual Chaos Control slammed and destroyed the Hurricane on Eggman's head, who was talked out of being a demon by Maria. The Dark Chaos Emeralds were scattered along the globe as Mikomi left and Eggman returned to his evil schemes. Maria decided to stay for a while with Shadow. (Storyline: The Eggman Empire): After about two weeks of staying within Tails' house with Maria, though they shared not the same room and the doors were mostly kept barricaded, the black Hedgehog decided it was time for a comeback, a little fun to prove he didn't turn into a frightened little girl who was afraid of causing trouble after all these years. His actions went over his thoughts as he ended up joining with the Eggman, gaining with this access to untold technologies and a new costume, which he more or less dislikes but wears nonetheless. After causing some trouble here and there, he challenged Sonic to a race and a fight, and after the two had to work together to rip apart an army of Badniks equipped with nothing but black and white cameras, thusly unable to tell the black one from the blue one, the fight resumed as Shadow knocked Sonic unconscious with a baseball bat. Sonic was brought back to the Death Egg to be kept as a prisoner by the Doctor for now, though it's hard to tell if Shadow won't do something about it. About a week after Sonic's defeat, Shadow was confronted with his sister, Emmy, who literally forced him to free the prisoners and switch sides again. Though it was in Shadow's original plan to betray Robotnik by getting Sonic in the Death Egg the easy way, he had no planned to do it so early. Freeing the blue Hedgehog, he fled the scene to explore the Death Egg one more time. The self-destruction mechanisms triggered by a faulty cannon shot caused by Shadow and a nearby explosive device detected close to the core, everyone but him and the blue Hedgehog were evacuated. They were ambushed by the Eternal Walker who they, after a lot of injuries and teamwork efforts, brought down. It is then that the dragon, Neo Nemesis, woke up to bring them to their doom. Engulfed in fire as the Dragon spit on them live on all channels, the Death Egg was seen exploding ten seconds later. His current status is unknown. (Storyline: Neo Nemesis): After the explosion of the Death Egg, Sonic and Shadow found themselves in an escape pod, but given the amount of hits the Black One took during his fight with Nemesis and the Eternal Walker alike, he couldn't make it in a conscious state. Sonic and Shadow were carried into ORCA (Oceanic Research Center A..), an underwater G.U.N. complex. Sonic escaped, naturally, but left Shadow there in a way to get back at him. Stuck within G.U.N.'s grasp, and unconscious, the Hedgehog couldn't do squat about what G.U.N. had in store for him: to give him a purpose, to return his original and only true purpose; to serve them as a weapon. Designing a chip capable of linking itself safely to a mobian's brain and placing them under the control of any identified G.U.N. officers, they tested it on Shadow and the results were excellent. His first assignment was to gather three Chaos Emeralds from a single location, a task which required his ability to sense Emeralds. Tracking down Emmy's, Eve's and Tails', he was ordered to open fire on the Fox's house and get the Emeralds. Emmy and Tails were quickly dispatched by rapid onslaughts of energy attacks, their Emeralds taken, and their injured selves left there since he was not ordered to kill them. Eve, however, managed to get away. Moving on to his next target, he was forced to face Jaz in order to get the final Emerald, though the battle wasn't that fierce, since it was mostly Shadow standing around and shooting energy blasts at Jaz until he engaged him with a homing attack and, as the Emerald was thrown away, he went away with it. Briefly before that, however, he was kept as a backup plan in which case Swiss Mouse would not hand over his Emerald. Thankfully for his health, he did. -- More to come as it develops. Moving on to the next Emerald was a piece of cake, as G.U.N. led a strike force against Robotnik's carrier. Though the losses were severe when it comes to G.U.N. Bots, Shadow himself rammed through the Egg Carrier 3's cannon and snatched the Emerald few seconds before it fired. Two Emeralds left. Capable of tracking down the Emeralds with ease, this led Shadow back to Tails' house, but the surprise awaiting him there was rather grand, if anything. Vector and Mighty, two of the Chaotix members, had their hands on the silver Emerald. A battle broke out, and through Shadow got the Emerald, the end result was that all three opponents were left down on the ground, unconscious. G.U.N. officials picked Shadow up and the Emerald and left soon after. With now only one Emerald to gather, Shadow must be healed by the G.U.N. crew. The last Emerald was finally tracked down within a small cavern inside Emerald Coast, which is where Shadow along with an entire squad of G.U.N. armored units were sent. Moving in to take the Emerald from Emmy, Shadow took one Hell of a nasty mallet-hit on the head and was knocked unconscious as the chip within his quills was crushed, shattering the link between him and G.U.N.. The Emerald was then forcefully taken from Emmy as the G.U.N. units left. Shadow was nursed back to health by Emmy, trying to ignore everything he was forced to do as she told him everything. He later left the island on his own, running /on/ the water until the actual city was reached. Although he wasn't fully recovered, he hijacked a new room within Tails' house and "kindly" asked the Fox to repair the broken Air Shoes. He used the free time to actually pend some "family" time with Eve and Emmy, dropping by a G.U.N. Vacation Spot and bombing the place to bring back to Tails various pieces of machinery. Meanwhile, Neo Nemesis was promptly killed by G.U.N., their Emeralds taken away and scattered across the globe shortly prior to this event by an unidentified, teleporting (and armored) mobian. (Storyline: Peaceful Tomorrows): Nothing specific to add for now. He simply wandered around, got his shoes repaired by Tails.. (Storyline: Spider Webs): This all started with a really casual day. Shadow was roaming through Tails' house, as usual, and then a brick hit him on the head, a message on it. "I captured Amy!" Scratch wrote, with the location. This was for Sonic, obviously, but Shadow went anyhow. Fighting, and defeating, Scratch in a gigantic pinball machine, the black Hedgehog then busted Amy out of her (unlocked) cell, detonating the fortress and fleeing with a boat. It's when they fled that things got ugly. Amy started talking with Shadow, bringing up points which hit him-- hard. Him? Not a weapon? An actual Mobian? And.. Maria! His eyes went blank, and he took off the boat almost immediately, unable to hold it any further. He dashed across the town and stormed in a small G.U.N. complex, causing Sonic to accidentally injured one of the soldiers. Kill four before he was stopped, Shadow's anger caused him to release a powerful Chaos Burst, which in turn made Shadow fall into unconsciousness as the building collapsed. Sonic brought him back to Tails' house, along with Amy, who now wished only to forget all of this. Suffering from amnesia, the black Hedgehog simply spent his days glaring at a wall, trying to remember, trying to forget. The memories were smashing their way in his mind, and this caused the most unlikely event possible. Realizing he was perhaps more than a mere weapon, and as Amy drew closer to him for a moment, the two of them actually kissed, and then relaxed on a couch, doing nothing.. trying to clear their minds of everything bad in them. And then Tails arrived. Snapping their time together, Tails went off and shut himself in his room. Shadow and Amy went to see him, before the Fox said he loved Amy, to which Shadow snickered and left the room, leaving Amy with Tails. Next thing he knew, Amy was screaming and went out of the room. And then SONIC arrived. Learning about the kiss, and about the Fox trying to hit on the pink Hedgehog, the blue one left, angry. Amy shortly left as well, crying, which caused Shadow's expulsion from Tails' house, before the black Hedgehog went chasing after Amy to, at least, poke her. Turns out his poking actually made Amy realize that she was an important part of a team, despite what she thinks. Shadow fled, and wasn't seen until a day later, late at night, when he accidentally stumbled across Amy. The two of them talked a bit, which resulted in Amy inviting Shadow over to stay at her house (x_X) for a while. They then received free tickets to an amusement part, which turned out to be a diabolical plan of Scratch's to capture them both. Scratch, of course, ended up under Amy's hammer, which looked very painful from Shadow's point of view. Resuming their visit of the park, they went through a roller coaster, which left Shadow rather unimpressed due to his daily runs on the highways, at which point they left and headed for Amy's house. Then things got more complicated. The relation between Amy and Shadow grew.. the next day, Shadow took Amy to the Ark. They spent an entire day there, exploring the colony, looking around, although that was more of an Amy thing. Shadow spent most of the time staring out the windows. By the time they were back on Mobius, the two of them had to cheer each other up at least once. Back on Mobius, Amy dragged Shadow to an arcade, where they played.. Dance Dance Revolution. Shadow lost as the crowd around him shouted "Go Sonic!", and then they went back 'home'. A few minutes after Amy had gone to bed, she went in Shadow's room, claiming she could not sleep. The two of them spent the night looking out the window, although Amy eventually fell asleep. The next morning, the words came out of Amy's mouth, which did leave Shadow somewhat shocked. "I love you." From there, things went by faster than expected. Various discussions took place, and the inevitable soon happened. Scratch, turning Super thanks to the Master Emerald, kidnapped Amy after he beat Shadow as an attempt to get both he and Sonic to fight him. Driven by anger and actual emotions, whereas Sonic seemed to show none, from Shadow's point of view, the Hedgehogs 'teamed' and went after the robot. After Shadow got Amy back, the three of them channeled their energy and managed to pull a Chaos Control without a Chaos Emerald, literally DROPPING a skyscraper on Scratch. Needless to say, their victory couldn't be contested, but all three Hedgehogs were rightfully tired after this. The next few days went by too fast. Shadow, on the night of the destruction of Capitol City, infiltrated G.U.N's main HQ along with E-91, a "Ninja" robot created by Eggman. Once at the top, however, he held back his anger and escaped rather than killing Miss Hades and Gruff, the former which seemed to be too nice to be the source of his problems. He simply leaped out of the building, running back toward Tails' house. Of course, he had no idea this would be the start of a chain reaction of "bad" events for him. Once at Tails', he took Amy and Tails to the Floating Island for safety, although it was Tails who piloted the Tornado. They watched from afar the destruction of Capitol City, and could only hope for the best outcome. (Storyline: Recovery): The first morning after the big war wasn't that eventful. Tails overheard (Knuckles too, but that's something else) Shadow and Amy talking to each others and flew off on his own with the Tornado, saying he should've been left behind to start with to help the city. Taking Amy, Shadow decided to try something the Faker often pulled and jumped off the Floating Island, letting the current guide his way to the ground. They (not-so-safely for Shadow) landed on the ground and made their way to the city, where Amy found her 'house' more or less undamaged. Given they had no spot to stay for the night, as repairs would not start before another day, the duo decided to go back to Tails' and ask.. but.. Killer was also there. It took Shadow mere moments to send sparks flying toward the man, and soon enough the black Hedgehog, insulted more than once, lunged at the man to kill-- but was stopped by Tails, who suffered from injuries. Shadow ran off, Amy following as fast as she could, trying to keep up. They talked, and talked-- Shadow insisted, he isn't the right guy for her. But soon enough, Amy's words made him stop, and they stopped in the woods, only to crash down on the ground and stare at the sky. They had nothing to do, nowhere to stay for now, so they just stayed there. They met Annabelle, a bear who quickly learned not to mess with Shadow as Amy wasn't paying attention. After a while, night rolled in, and Shadow told Amy to stay at Tails' while he went to look around the city. It's after this, returning home, that Shadow and Amy had an "unfortunate" adventure which lead to pregnancy and.. well, to Maria the Hedgehog. All of that thanks to one nurse: Bo! Yay! (Storyline: Robotization): Soon enough, though, Hell itself was unleashed by one Dr. Dingel Dongle, scientist who betrayed Eggman and started roboticizing the entire city. Shadow and Amy, along with the very motivated Tails (who kicked Dongle's ass) led a forceful assault on Dongle's base and wiped it out as Tails dealt the final blow. (Storyline: ???): Four months after Maria's birth, a war broke out between Shadow and Amy; a mistake that led them both to hate each others. Amy decided that, for the two of them, it was better if they simply took some time away. Shadow left Amy. The Path to Insanity: After Amy decided that she would be better alone, Shadow took a heavy loss. He decided to not go against Amy's words and slip away into the shadows, where he belonged. G.U.N was swift to make the first move, however; with Amy gone, Shadow had no reason to fight past a certain point and they wanted him. For almost one week Shadow did not sleep and even for him spending so much time awake is a bad idea. He was drawn to the limit of his body, wounded, bleeding at a faster rate than his regeneration could handle. Suddenly he snapped; reason left him, he was no longer Shadow; he was a wild animal fighting to survive. For one week he became more and more corrupted by these negative thoughts. He forgot his oath to Maria, he forgot everything that once would make him happy or angry; he only remembered one thing: Amy. It's her fault. She left him. Past tragedies should be left alone, not repeated. During the following week, things simply went from bad to worse. Shadow roamed during the night, slaying all who would approach dark corners of the city alone. His teeth became sharper, his claws grew strong and solid, his fur was stained and shriveled by the cold weather, his senses were amplified as he lost his experience and wisdom. His quills became much sharper and his reflexes somehow grew beyond what they already were; his accuracy and his keen ability to spot his pray have been reduced considerably, however. In little less than three weeks, Shadow was no longer Shadow; in so little time, a being went from being happy to unendingly sad, drawn into the arms of the beast: Gerald. During Shadow's struggle to remain sane despite Amy's "exit", Gerald Robotnik took it upon himself to double his strength. He took over Shadow's mind within hours, shattering in the process the digital copy of Maria's soul, leaving Shadow as a heartless beast, a cold weapon. The hedgehog slowly but surely sank into insanity. Shadow spent an entire month hunting down random individuals; that is, until he met Beangirl. Through some sort of voltage, she managed to amplify Gerald's programming and made Shadow collect the seven Emeralds. Forcing the hedgehog to enter his Super form, she led him to destroy small towns until finally, when he went after Amy for revenge, he was stopped by G.U.N's elite forces; shot in the head, no less. The Escape: Brought in G.U.N's HQ for studies, and thought dead, Shadow the Hedgehog's mind was simply freed from the rogue programming and he quickly escaped. In his weakened state, however, he required to draw upon the power of a Chaos Emerald to stay alive; once, just once, would do it. Finding none, he tried obtaining Chaos Drives instead; this lead him to run into Annabelle the Bear who, after a short fight, cut his right arm off. Weakened even more, Shadow decided to find Amy and ask her for help. Mobius Quest DX: Amy, Sonic and a couple more of mobians were in fact gone to Downunda to remedy the situation there (that being the frozen state of the continent). Shadow managed to grab a flight onboard a plane and found Amy there; the two quickly put aside their differences and Amy gave Shadow enough attention to make him healthy once more. Very little happened; Sonic and Shadow had a game of X-TREME COOKING (which, ironically, destroyed the house, which is why you should never trust two hedgehogs to cook something) and they eventually defeated some giant flame-monster and restored the continent. Hooray.< Oh, right, and his arm was sewed back on when he got back. By Bo. And through tons of plot-holes. Ahem. Residence: Where DOES Shadow live? Well, he's alived almost everywhere; the more common places would be in Tails' house, where he has stayed a couple of times. Officially, he currently stays with Amy in a room of his own, Maria painting included, but he's more often spending the night outside than inside. Old residences include, but are not limited to: room inside the Death Egg, room in Tails' house, a random abandoned warehouse, research center in ORCA (Oceanic Research Center A) (G.U.N), the Egg Carrier 2 and 3.. Attacks, Abilities, Techniques: List of what Shadow can do! Although it's a bit outdated and stuff. -------------- Abilities -------------- Phasing/Blinking: Allows Shadow to teleport up to five meters away from him instantly. Can be repeated as much as he wants but gradually drains his energy. Affinity For Chaos Emeralds: Capable of feeling the Chaos Emeralds on an almost world-wide scale, Shadow is not only capable of using them with skills going above what normal mobians can do, but he can absorb energy from them to keep it for later, restore his own health and energy or simply to glow and showoff. Though he can't feel the Emeralds with uttermost accuracy if he has one next to him, for example, he can if there are no sources which can disrupt the signal nearby his body. He usually requires concentration for this. Regardless of the disrupting signals in a room, however, Chaos Emeralds that are very close to him are easily felt and identified. Fake Chaos Emeralds cannot fool him, either, since regardless of their very similar frequency, they're still much weaker. Normal Running: His normal running speed, without his shoes, is actually slightly lower than Sonic's, by about fifty miles per hour. He can still, however, snap through the sound barrier. While wearing the Air Shoes, his speed is slightly above Sonic's, by about fifty miles per hour. While spindashing, and while spinning in an overall way, the same rules as running apply in virtue of speed. His "approximate" speed while running tops well over the one thousand miles per hour, much like Sonic's. Ungodly Reflexes: Given the speed at which he runs and generally acts around, Shadow's reaction speed is the second best in the world; while the difference with Sonic's superior reaction speed is very small and impossible to notice, it is still there and annoys the black hedgehog. Physical Strength: This ia another area where Shadow's skills are nearly outmatched; with the ability to hover and run faster than Sonic, one might not expect Shadow to be all that strong; actually, they're wrong. His raw power is almost on Knuckles' level, which is no feat to scoff at; his resistance to damage, however, is on the exact same level as Sonic's, that being that "being hit hurts no matter what". His only advantage is that he recovers fast. Triangle Jump/Straight Line Jump: Grants Shadow the power to literally smash against a wall and kick it, sending himself hurling toward another wall, which is where he smashes against it and repeats the process to travel quickly and relatively safely from wall to wall. Light Dash: Using conventionally placed 'magic rings' which are known to be a currency, Shadow is capable of teleporting from the start of a line of ring to the end of it, grabbing all of them instantly. It's not so much of a teleporting trick as it is a very fast dashing trick. -------------- Normal Attacks -------------- Spindash -Curling up in a black ball, easily seen as a spinning saw, Shadow is capable of ramming into his opponents at incredible speeds as long as he touches the ground. Would he let go, the attack is then a Homing Attack, not a Spindash. -Piercing, Slashing, Bludgeoning Melee Assaults -Punching, kicking.. -Bludgeoning Homing Attack -The natural followup of a Spindash if he stops touching the ground, Shadow will home in on his target, allowing him to following him regardless of where he goes. While the attack loses most of its powerful, the accuracy is very good. -Piercing, Slashing, Bludgeoning Flame/Fire Somersault -Somewhat similar to a Spindash, Shadow covers himself with flames and can tackle, or jump, onto targets, mostly trying to slash with his quills. -Slashing, Fire Ancient Light -Standing still, curling up and building speed and friction by spinning, one would think he's preparing a spindash. However, by the time a bright, yellow glow bursts out around him, it's too late. For each opponent within the area, one Homing Attack is released, going after every last ones of them. -Piercing, Slashing, Bludgeoning, Energy Black Tornado -Spinning around his target, Shadow can cause a small whirlwind of black wind to try and engulf the one he's spinning around, trying to either lift him up and smash him against the ground after, or quite simply cause him to trip. -Air Rocket Burn -Using the phasing and the blinking aptitudes he has, Shadow can blink out and reappear in front of his target, releasing from his Air Shoes large pillars of flames, purple and red, to burn and destroy. -Fire, Energy Shockwave -Shadow can send forth from either ones of his fist a powerful shockwave, mostly made of air, however. While it is not very powerful, it can cause most beings to trip and fall down, with luck. -Bludgeoning, Air Sonic Boom -About anyone who can break the sound barrier can do this, and Shadow isn't an exception. As soon as the barrier is broken, a powerful shockwave launches from Shadow at the speed of sound and easily shatters the glass of nearby building. While it is not enough to injure a living bein, it can still harm. -Bludgeoning, Air, Sonic -------------- Chaos Attacks -------------- Chaos Spear -The basic Chaos move Shadow has, it consists in forming bright yellow spears which can then be thrown at opponents, or be made to appear right next to the said opponents -Piercing, C. Energy Chaos Shockwave -A move very similar to "Shockwave", this allows Shadow to form a very similar blast made of Chaos Energy instead, which can act as both a protective barrier (if kept in place) or an offensive weapon. -Bludgeoning, C. Energy Chaos Burst -His single most devastating attack (without Emeralds), he'll usually hold back when using it. The concept, rather than just punching and directly smashing his opponents through physical contacts, is to engulf himself in a purple sphere of Chaos energy, letting it grow bigger and bigger until he can trap his opponent in it with him. It doesn't damage Shadow, but it can blast through most things and more importantly, harm most persons to a critical point. Most of the time, the outer 'shell' of the sphere will knock away opponents. -Bludgeoning, C. Energy Chaos Magic -Snapping his fingers, Shadow can cause an explosion of purple Chaos Energy about where he wants to, so long as it's within considerable range and within sight. -C. Energy Roaming Chaos -A weaker variant of the Chaos Magic, this move actually creates the same explosion which remains there, forming a sphere which tracks down the closest foe and tries to tackle him or her. -Bludgeoning, C. Energy Chaos Nightmare -Engulfing both of his fists in that purple Chaos Energy, Shadow can inflict wounds upon anyone too close to him. The energy dissipating as it delivers the blow, it affects about everyone within a one meter range of Shadow, which is melee range, either way. It usually sends most people it hits flying backward until a wall can stop their flight. -Bludgeoning, Air, C. Energy Chaos Boom -Variant of the Sonic Boom, this simply means that he not only breaks the sound barrier and sends forth powerful shockwaves around himself (at the speed of sound), but brings it up a notch by engulfing those shockwaves in bright yellow Chaos Energy. -Bludgeoning, Sonic, Air, C. Energy -------------- Team Attacks -------------- Chaos Control -Refer to: Chaos Emerald Attacks: Chaos Control. While he is with E-123 (Omega) and Rouge, he can combine his energy with the two of them to use Chaos Control without an Emerald at the expense of his own energy. Note: he can also do this with Sonic and Amy, apparently. HyperSonic Hurricane -A very nasty move pulled when he is with Sonic, the two Hedgehogs are capable of mixing their respective Black and Blue Tornado attacks to create a much larger storm, black and blue winds smashing against each others and disintegrating their foes easily. They are left unharmed when they perform this so long as they keep moving. -Slashing, Bludgeoning, Air Legendary Light -(with Sonic) A move which consists in mixing up both Hedgehog's Ancient Light attack by spinning one atop the other, building up energy, speed and friction at the same time. When they release it, it's literally an onslaught of homing attacks that goes left and right to smash whatever's in the way. -Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeoning, Energy Rocket Boost -If both Hedgehogs run side by side, either one of them can easily grab the other and use his own speed to transfer it to the other by sending him forward, pushing him and allowing the one pushed to speed up ahead with MUCH more speed than would usually be possible. The other one, however, will most likely stop running as he does this due to the amount of strength required to pull this off. The one still going can then smash into his opponent. -Bludgeoning -------------- Chaos Emerald Attacks -------------- Chaos Control -This is known to be Shadow's most useful move outside AND inside of battle. It allows him to warp anytime, anywhere he can visualize in his mind by warping OUT of the current timeframe and pretty much 'appearing' where he wants to go. He can touch people to bring them with him, but those who aren't used to traveling through Chaos Control would find themselves disoriented, if not sick. Imagine entire cities, entire landscapes, scrolling in front of your eyes within a few seconds as your body stretches out of time and then appears back in it. Chaos Spear Barrage -This is a sick, twisted version of his Chaos Spear. Using the Emerald's power, he'll basically create eight Chaos Spears above his head and fire them in all directions randomly, creating more and repeating the process if needed. -Piercing, C. Energy Chaos Lance -Powered up version of the Chaos Spear, it allows him to summon a bigger version of a Chaos Spear and use homing techniques to strike his target with it. Instead of doing this, however, he can summon three Chaos Spears right next to a person (one above, one to the person's left and one to his right) and then fire them off to slash his target twice. Or kill, whichever fits the situation. -Slashing, Piercing, C. Energy -------------- Super Form -------------- Harnessing the power of all seven Chaos Emeralds at once, preferably the negative energy within them rather than the positive one, Shadow's fur turns a very bright silver in color, almost golden. His body is taken over by a powerful white aura, and the red marks on his hair remain there for the effect. While in this form, Shadow is practically invulnerable, unharmed by most attacks and tactics. This grants him the ability to fly, and even use Chaos Emerald attacks at will, such as Chaos Control. He can execute such attacks on a much wider scale, managing to warp entire buildings at once if that's his wish. He can fire powerful energy blasts from his hands alone, far stronger than what you'd expect. His running speed is almost doubled, making the Spindash even more dangerous in that form. However, this form has one major flaw-- Energy runs out fast, and once it runs out, Shadow'll most likely be knocked unconscious. -------------- Hyper Form -------------- No one knows if Shadow even has a Hyper form; since Sonic has one, however, it is very likely that Shadow does too. It's probably just as powerful, if not more, too. Do you really want to see it after all? Inventory and Items: List of what Shadow has! "Air Shoes"/"Rocket Shoes": These shoes remain a pure mystery. As far as Shadow remembers, he always had them and he'll always have them. Red, white, black and golden shoes, they're not all that special; unless you take into consideration the fact that they obey Shadow's every thoughts. Designed and built by Gerald and, likely, by the team of scientists who worked on the Biolizard, the shoes are almost impossible to break and far too easy to fix. They don't require a single source of power save for Shadow; indeed, if anyone else were to wear the shoes? Nothing'd happen. They're somehow linked to Shadow and he doesn't question that one second. They allow him to run (or rather, skate and hover) slightly faster than Sonic does, which is a feat in itself. Capable of spitting out flames or Chaos Energy, those things sure are something to watch out for. "Power Rings"/"Bracer Rings": Those are the golden rings found on the four bracers he wears; two on the arms, two on the legs. They're actually "normal" power rings save that they do not disintegrate when used. They don't add to his power; oh, no. However, they allow him to better channel the Chaos Energy when he pulls off his moves (like Chaos Spear); while he can still fight without them, simple moves become slightly harder and more energy-consuming than they would otherwise be. They're a really curious addition to everything he already has to him. Furthermore, the rings allow the actual wristbands (not those on his legs, however) to shrink a Chaos Emerald down to a pebble's size and store it inside the bracer; it is instantly de-shrunk when removed and, while kept inside, can be used just as well as if it was being held in his hands. Flame Ring: A golden bracer worn on top of his regular bracers, golden with odd runes on it, red, glowing ruby included, this ring is what allows Shadow to control the fire element into powering his sommersaults up. While it's clear that he can actually use it to channel the flames into attacks as well, he's never actually done it before and probably doesn't even want to do it. Pretty much like Sonic. "Air Shoes Upgrade": Allows the use of the ability called the "Light Dash". Grants Shadow the power to almost instantly teleport from one end to the other in a line of rings, grabbing them all on his way. "Ancient Light": An ancient power of unknown origins, it has found its home in the bodies of Sonic the Hedgehog and Shadow the Hedgehog through the Sonic Adventure 2 'storyline'. It grants the hedgehogs the ability to build up power and instantly attack almost every enemies in sight by executing a simple homing attack. Excessively powerful. E-Spyglasses: Awesome orange glasses that actually look like shades, those "goggles" are equipped with only the latest state of the art x-ray and heat vision modes along with a transmitter that can handle radio conversations. If you know the frequency, anyway. Rings: While the "power rings" found around Mobius are used a currency, it should be noted that, just like Tails and Sonic and Amy and Knuckles...... Shadow has an almost endless supply of them
