The Purpose
of the Society shall be to promote family history by providing educational and research opportunities for both members and non-members; to collect, preserve and maintain records which may aid in the development of individual family histories; and to keep accounts of the history of Morgan County and the area within, but not limited to, an approximate 50-mile-radius of Jacksonville, IL.

| When we meet.
The society is open Monday through Friday 10-4 and has available for research cemetery lists, census records, obituaries since 1830; quarterlies from Morgan, Schuyler, Cass, Greene, Adams, Pike counties. Many duplicate quarterlies and also duplicate records, and genealogical magazines are available. Members volunteer and can answer questions. A recent enlarged copy of Civil War Soldiers from Morgan County has been printed. Other books such as Ebenezer Church, David Moore-World War Soldiers, and Morgan, Scott, Greene County history and pictorial books are also available. Non-members can receive help looking up several kinds of records on the computer. Members receive a publication four times a year. The society exists on dues and donations. It welcomes donations such as family histories. |
