The Illini Club of
program began in 1986 with the awarding
of three $500 scholarships. The number
of scholarships offered was increased to five in 1989. The
William
C. Butler Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992 to honor the year’s top scholarship applicant. In 2007 and 2008 the club was
proud to be able to
increase the scholarships to four $1,000 awards and a $1,500 award to the
William C. Butler Memorial Scholarship winner.
Criteria used in selecting the scholarship
winners include academic achievements and awards, leadership, extracurricular
high school activities,
community involvement, and work experience during high
school. Financial need is not a factor. Download the 2009 Illini Club of McLean County Scholarship Application here or pick it up at any McLean County high school this spring.
