Chicago, rainbow, music, flowers, butterflies and love, these are the words that describe the children Kathryn Forestal and I worked with this summer in music, art and theatre at LeMoyne school. What a blessing it was to be a part of their lives and witness such a learning and enriching experience.

I have never visualized the true meaning of the Myria Reed Foundation until now. Working with these autistic children was a challenging but wonderful experience: Mary with her love for life and people; Leticia with her expressions of joy in dancing, jumping and laughing; Cody with his love for music and beautiful singing voice; Willie with the talented skills for drawing and visualizing the world as it should be; Ian with his hesitation and withdrawal but still will try everything; Omar remembering the rainbow that helped him to know that he is lovable and capable; and Karen wonderment and feeling of insecurity but yet understanding the need to be a part of something.

I will share and take this experience with me for a very long time. These students at LeMoyne captured my heart and soul, and I am thankful that I was able to enter their lives for a very brief moment. Five words describe it all: Chicago, rainbow, music, flowers, butterflies and love, what a beautiful picture.
