Though we welcome all Zetas, we would especially like to welcome graduating seniors to the alumnae world of ZTA.

FACT VS. FICTION ABOUT ZETA TAU ALPHA ALUMNAE MEMBERSHIP

1. I don’t have time.

FACT: The majority of alumnae chapter members work full time jobs, have husbands and children, and still enjoy ZTA after they leave college. The reality is that alumna membership only consumes an average of two to three hours of your free time per month. We all have that much time to spare for Zeta Tau Alpha.

2. I gave everything to ZTA as a collegian. Active membership seems pointless now.

FACT: Zeta Tau Alpha membership is a life-long commitment. Being an active alumna is just as rewarding, probably more so, as being an active collegian. Your alumnae membership will become more valuable and meaningful each year.

3. I’m burned out with ZTA. I need a break after graduation.

FACT: If you take that break, the odds that you will become involved after an extended absence from ZTA are against you, because you will find other things to do with your spare time. Alumnae chapters need your youth and enthusiasm to keep them from becoming outdated and stagnant.

4. I don’t want to pay all those Zeta Tau Alpha expenses.

FACT: ZTA alumnae pay an average cost of $30 to $40 annually for their membership dues. This is in sharp contrast to collegiate expenses. Other contributions to ZTA, such as the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, are strictly voluntary.

5. ZTA expects me to do too much.

FACT: As with your collegiate experiences, ZTA alumnae experiences are what you decide to make them. If you want be involved, there’s always something to do. The more active you become, the more you will appreciate and cherish Zeta Tau Alpha.

6. I won’t know any people in the alumnae chapter. I would feel uncomfortable going to meetings.

FACT: Those “people” are your sorority sisters; don’t be too quick to judge their responses. You can become best friends with other alumnae. Remember that when you pledged ZTA you didn’t know everyone in your college chapter. Be patient – it takes time for you to get to know everyone and for everyone to get to know you.

The prospect of a new school year is exciting. It’s a natural beginning, forming relationships that become complete and worthwhile lifetime experiences. Whether you’ve just graduated or been out of school for a while, remember that becoming an active alumna is as easy as A, B, C!

A ... Act on your instincts, accept the challenge, accumulate memories, add dimension to your life, aim high, answer the call of ZTA, activate your membership!

B .... Boast of your achievements, bestow your gifts, bond with sisters, believe in the Fraternity, buzz with news, burst with pride about North Shore!

C ... Capitalize on your investment, catch the spirit, call a sister, create new ideas, charm and celebrate the world with this award winning Crown Chapter!
