THANK-YOU NOTES RECEIVED Recently received notes.... Dear Project Linus, My 5 year old daughter had surgery at NIMC on December 10,2010 and what a great surprise for her to receive one of your handmade blankets! She loves it and it has not left her side since. Thank you for making these blankets and for comforting the children at the hospital - thank you for comforting my child. C.M. My son is 4 his name is Aiden and the day before his birthday he had ear surgery. This is his third time he has had to have this done and the 2 out of the 3 times he was able to choose a blanket and the last one he pick was a green fleece with snow flakes on it, and he loves it. He took the blanket into surgery with him and came out holding it just the same way. He sleeps with it every night and drags it around the house. It is hard watching your son cry for you and you can not go beyond those doors is the hardest thing i have ever done but knowing a simple blanket that someone made gave him comfort is a great feeling. Thank you so much for all your volenteers do and I hope you will continue it for a long time. I can not say thank you enough for everything!!!! Thank you, C. My son was born ten years ago at 29 weeks. He was in the NICU for five weeks. He was given a beautiful quilt while he was there to keep over his isolet. Preemies are sensitive to all the light and noise that go on 24/7 while they are there. I didn't realize until we left that it was ours to keep. It was made by a quilting group. I had always been interested in returning the favor and making a blanket for another baby in need, but never knew how to go about it. A couple of years ago I was reading a fictional book and it referenced Project Linus. I assumed it was made up. Then I was reading the sequel late one night and it referenced it again. For whatever reason, I got out of bed and googled it. I was delighted to find out that it was indeed real. Since then I have made three crocheted/knitted blankets. Dear Project Linus Thank you for all you do! My five year old daughter had surgery to fix her broken nose today. When she returned to her room, the nurse had your blanket there to comfort her. I am touched. Your blanket put a smile on her face. When we got home, I put her on the couch and she asked for her feel better blanket. She said it was nice that people made her a blanket and they cared about her getting better. Thank you.... |
