Spread the word about Project Linus
As a 100% volunteer organization, we rely on the generosity of others.  Please consider one of the following possibilites.
Scouts, schools, religious organizations, senior centers, sewing guilds and craft and fabric stores are excellent places to find potential blanket donors.

To hold a blanket making event:
First--secure a date and location for a blanket making day-perhaps the school gymnasium.
1) Have the volunteers ask for donations of fleece from the community. This can be done by posting flyers at schools or businesses and having people drop the fleece donations in a large box at the business or school.
2) Run a fundraiser, like a bake sale or car wash to raise money to purchase fleece.
3)They also can ask each participant to bring a yard and a half of fleece to the blanket making day.
The flyer should also include that donors can make a blanket on their own by quilting, crocheting or making a no sew fleece blanket. The blankets could then be donated on the scheduled blanket making day. The community could be encouraged to spend the day making blankets whether they are making fleece, crochet/knitted or quilts. The Project Linus website could be included so that participants could check out what we do. www.orgsites.com/il/projectlinuschicago
The website also has a link to a video showing how to make fleece blankets on utube. This address can also be accessed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv4WVOiUpYc&feature=channel

OTHER IDEAS:

How  about hosting a Penny War?
Here's how it works: Each team (grade, classroom,  company department or Sunday School group, etc.) has a container placed in a  very visible area for a designated period of time. For every penny that is  placed in a particular team's container that team will get one point. For  everything other than a penny, you will be deducted the amount of that money.  For example, if a nickel isplaced in your container 5 points will come off  of your total. A dime will be a 10 point loss and a dollar would be minus  100pts! You can see that it will benefit your team to put pennies into your  container and dollar bills and spare "silver" change in the containers of the  other group. The $$ are counted to determine the winning team.  You can  make things interesting such as the losing team provides lunch or does a  service for the winning team.  Let the Penny War begin!

--HOLD A CUPCAKES FOR LINUS BAKE SALE!
--Organize a yarn drive for Linus!
We are in great need of new, washable skeins of yarn.  This is a great way to involve church members, guilds, school children and scouts

--Hold a fundraiser for Linus--such as a car wash or bake sale

--Host a blanket making day with a service organization.

--Cut cotton muslin fabric into 8" squares.

--Volunteer to deliver blankets to area hospitals.

--Sew Kids Helping Kids squares into quilts.

To Make a Monetary Donation...
As a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of others.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BECOME A DONOR, your tax deductable check, made payable to PROJECT LINUS, should be sent to: Linda Neuman, 1230 Thornapple Lane, Northbrook, IL 60062.  OR:

TO PURCHASE A TRIBUTE CARD

Honor or remember someone special with a Project Linus Tribute Card. A tribute card is like a greeting card, but better!  When you make a donation of $5.00 or more, we will mail a custom message to a person of your choice, acknowledging a  donation in their name. So much nicer than a greeting card and we do all the work!

Cards are printed on beautiful white linen vellum  in black script lettering.  They can be personalized with name, occasion,(example-In Honor Of, In Memory Of, In Celebration Of (A Special Holiday, Birthday/Anniversary etc.) and donor name. A small satin ribbon may also be added in your choice of colors.
