This website was updated on January 27, 2010.

Join us the second Tuesday of every month. We will be hosting a Project Linus workshop for those who would like to get together to make blankets for children.

Come any time between 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the New Lenox Village Hall.

You can sew, tie, knit,or crochet blankets. Anne, our resident quilter will be happy to help beginners start or old pros learn new techniques. If you are looking for a crochet teacher, Deb can help you.

In order to plan for fun events that meet most peoples' levels of interest and ability, please indicate what type of blankets you are interested in making - no-sew fleece or machine pieced blankets in a variety of patterns. RSVP so that we can make sure we have a chair for you.

If you would like a newsletter to learn blanket guidelines, find patterns, discover agencies we serve, or find out how you can get involved, please call Nicole at 1-815-314-1314.

Welcome to the Project Linus--Will County Chapter

If you've ever had a special blankey, you know it's not about the warmth that it brings as much as the security and comfort it gives. Sadly, too many children are in crisis and don't even have a blankey to hold on to that would help them hope for better times.

The national organization of Project Linus's mission is two-fold. First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

For those of you who already assist in making blankets, or donate a monetary amount or supplies, we thank you for your generous support.

If you have a heart for children, Project Linus has a place for you! Get involved today by getting on our e-mail list.

A Special Note from the Will County Coordinator

Happy Fall to all you wonderful “blanketeers.” I hope this communication finds you in good health and stable during this national time of financial uncertainty. Although we have all felt the pain of an unstable market I have seen many friends and families grow closer as we weather the economic situation together.

I cannot tell you the joy and comfort your blankets bring to these children we serve. With every stitch, you touch so many lives and affect the future of families nearby. I am honored to work side by side with such caring and giving people who have the same desire to serve others and are anxious and able to respond to a need when it arises.

Although times are difficult for many I am truly appreciative of the faithfulness of our volunteers. I am always amazed that while we never have an abundance of blankets, we always have just enough to meet the needs of the children of Will County. Because of your giving spirit we have never had to turn away any child who is in crisis. We have recently given away our 18,500th blanket.

For those of you who like numbers--20,000 by 2-20-2010--is our goal. We are currently in the process of planning our Make-a-Blanket Day for February 2010. With your help and lots of prayer we are dedicated to making or raising the funds to make 20,000 blankets by our next annual Make a Blanket Day. Watch for more information on how you can participate and continue to make a difference in our community.

It comforts and sustains him when he’s feeling quite alone
He knows that others love him for ‘twas made with special care
And because it means so much to him, it’s carried everywhere
You too can have a blanket that’s created just for you,
To comfort and support you when you’re feeling rather blue.
It’s your to keep forever, so you may always know
That others out there love you and to you our wishes go.

OUR BIGGEST NEED IS BLANKETS FOR 2 - 6 YEAR OLDS BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS. THE SIZES ARE 44" X 44" FABRIC QUILTS AND 40" X REGULAR WIDTH FOR FLEECE BLANKETS.
