Join us the second Tuesday of every month. We will be hosting a Project Linus workshop for those who would like to get together to make blankets for children.

Come any time between 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the New Lenox Village Hall. You can sew, tie, knit,or crochet blankets. Anne, our resident quilter will be happy to help beginners start or old pros learn new techniques. If you are looking for a crochet teacher, Deb can help you.

In order to plan for fun events that meet most peoples' levels of interest and ability, please indicate what type of blankets you are interested in making - no-sew fleece or machine pieced blankets in a variety of patterns. RSVP so that we can make sure we have a chair for you.

If you would like a newsletter to learn blanket guidelines, find patterns, discover agencies we serve, or find out how you can get involved, please call Nicole at 1-815-462-1752.

Project Linus is a national organization comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help comfort children in crisis.

Pauline Anderson--Will County Coordinator

In the winter of 2003, Pauline Anderson and her family shared the long winter hours making quilts under the mini chapter Alyssa's Hope. They donated them to Project Linus through the Joliet coordinator.
In April 2005, when the coordinator decided to step down, Anderson took over. She is the mother of three daughters and ten grandchildren. Anderson is the proud owner of three beautiful chocolate labradors,Taramisu,Good Golly Miss Molly and Cinco de Maya.

She makes her home in New Lenox where she and her husband, lovingly restore their house which was built in the 1890s. With help, she works on Project Linus every day activities picking up blankets, dropping blankets off to the various agencies, making blankets, running Alyssa's Hope, labeling, and checking to make sure all the blankets meet the guidelines set forth by the national chapter. For guidelines, please click on the guidelines link.

For questions or concerns, contact Pauline Anderson by calling 815/462-1057 or emailing her at Alyssashope@sbcglobal.net.

Who is Alyssa?

Six and a half years ago a three-week-old infant related to Anderson's family, needed heart surgery. While in the hospital, Alyssa received a Linus blanket. The blanket was the only item not plugged in, making a beeping sound, or dreadfully antiseptic. It comforted her family members who visited her every day because of its bright colors and hint of fun. It looked like a blanket that would have graced a little girl’s bedroom.

The results of heart surgery.

It is in her name that Alyssa’s Hope dedicates themselves to blessing others and giving them something to hold on to during their time of crisis.

She's stronger than a catfish!

If you have a personal story that explains how Project Linus has touched you personally, please send it to Pauline Anderson at www.alyssashope@sbcglobal.net so that we can share it with others.
