While we will still continue to accept blankets and deliver them, we will no longer be meeting at the Village Hall monthly.
You can still sew, tie, knit,or crochet blankets to donate and we will still get them out to the children in crises.
Call Pauline at (815) 462-1057 if you have finished blankets to donate. Thank you so much for being a part of Project Linus.

 FAQs

What is a workshop? These are also referred to as Make-A-Blanket-Days. We partner with the New Lenox Village Hall to meet blanketeers and make blankets together. (The blankets can be knitted, crocheted, quilted, tied fleece, etc. ) Please continue to look on the website NEWS section to the left for our work days.
Join us on a Tuesday workshop night and make a blanket for another little girl.
Should I bring my own supplies to the workshop?
If you have a blanket you are currently working on, we encourage you to bring it. We have rotary cutters and mats, however if you would like to bring yours, please make sure all of your materials have your name on them. Anne is our resident quilter. Bring your machine and she'll teach you a new technique or pattern. We love to learn new blocks! If you have one you'd like to share, please bring the instructions and be ready to teach!
Here's a beatiful example of a pattern that fits the baby's age.
I don't know how to quilt. How else can I help?
You don't need to know how to quilt! There are many ways in which you can help. You can cut and time fleece blankets. (See the MAKING BLANKETS link at the left.) You can knit or crochet blankets. You can donate a monetary amount or an item off wish list (see link). You can even show up to our workshop.
Can I knit blankets?
Yes. They can be knitted in yarn that is child or baby-friendly colors. Please use soft yarn. We cannot accept blankets made of wool. They are warm but scratchy.
I am a teacher. How can I use this as a community service learning project?
Doing service projects is the other part of our mission. We love to share the gift of compassion and work with others, especially children. We have found that students as young as second grade can tie fleece. If you are interested in having your class or group do a community service project, please contact Nicole at (815)312-1314.
What are child-friendly colors?
Children love rich, bright colors. Although we have had a little boy who loved his purple and brown blanket because it reminded him of a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, most of the young children do not like the brown or grey tones. Even black seems a bit bleak unless it has a bright colored pattern on it or is used for a border. Some of the teens like these muted colors, but please make sure you make the size that fits with their age.
How do I start my own chapter?
We work out of New Lenox, Illinois. If you are interested in a chapter in another state or in an area that is not being serviced by a Project Linus chapter, please check the chapter listings on our national office website http://www.projectlinus.org for a chapter near you.
