October, 2008-March, 2009 Project

The Friendship Sampler is scheduled for our 31st year of Quinsippi Needleworkers. This may be stitched on needlepoint canvas and/or linen.

The program chairs invite you to share your stitching with your sisters of Quinsippi Needleworkers.  The motif/band chosen to be stitched each program lesson would be stitched on a canvas/fabric of a friend.  A friend would stitch on your piece and pass the piece on to another stitcher for the following lesson.  Eventually, several ladies will have stitched designs on your piece and you can then finish as you wish.  A commitment is necessary for success.   It will be fun and the final product will be a treasure.

Option I - Shared Project
Alternative 1:

  • Purchase pattern magazine Stitcher's World,  March 2005 issue on page 34-35 shows our program patterns.
    Guidelines:
  • Choose your linen color, count, thread color(s) and fibers.
  • Based upon the pattern sizes indicated in the magazine  
  • Baste lines for the width divisible by 4  
  • Baste lines on top denoting the starting point
  • The use of stretcher bars should be decided
  • The owner will stitch the top band/motif or the first design
  • The threads to be used may be sent along with the fabric/canvas or you may allow the stitcher to choose her own colors and threads.
  • Designs may be used from the Grapevine sampler, the Mixed motif sampler from the magazine or from sources found in other books.
  • The sampler will be passed from friend to friend.
  • The stitching time allowed is 3 weeks.
  • Once the members register to participate, a rotation will be assigned and published.

    Alternative 2:

  • Purchase needlepoint magazine Needlepointers  2005
  • Pick your canvas size and the colors and fibers desired.
  • The above mentioned applies..

    Option II - Solitary Project
    Same alternatives as above, but stitch your own piece.
