COMMUNITY OUT REACH SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year our local awards two Round Lake High School graduating seniors with a $1000 scholarship. Applicants must answer four questions based upon information about their short and long term goals. They must also answer questions about their extracurricular involvement , work, volunteer history, and academic achievements. Finally, students must also submit letters of recommendation. If you would like to get involved or know of a Round Lake High School Senior that would like to apply, please contact Diane Korczynski, scholarship chair, at Village.
NEWBORN BABY PROJECT
The union sends a new baby package to the parents of newborns in the Round Lake Community. This is a community project that has a two-fold purpose. It helps introduce our union to new and future parents in our schools and the package also contains a book, a bib that says, “Read to Me” and pamphlets which help the parents raise lifelong readers and learners. If a parent of one of your students has a newborn, get an application from your building rep and we will send a package to the newborn. Send all applications or emails to Amy D'Andrea at Village School. If you send the application by email, we need to know the parents name and address, the new borns name and date of birth, and a telephone number if possible.
READ ACROSS AMERICA
We will be doing the "CAT IN THE HAT" again this year in March. If you would like to chair this committee for your building contact you building rep. The High School, Magee, and Middle School will receive a $400 budget and the elementary buildings will receive a budget of $1.00 per student. The money is available to purchase fun cat gifts and prizes for our students. There is a great cat-a-log on the NEA website which you can acess sometime in January of 2011.
