Yes. See the individual subject pages on this website for the work done each day. Homework is not always written assignments. Reading and reviewing notes are also tasks students should be doing each day at home.

We often hear students say they did their homework but "left it at home". It is a good idea to start a habit of packing up things needed for school the night before and placing them somewhere near the front door so they will not be forgotten if you are short on time in the morning.

Each subject varies slightly, but the school policy is that all written work be done in blue or black ink (except math which requires pencil only) and on loose leaf, wide ruled paper, so an adequate supply of loose leaf paper is necessary (not spiral).

Each class requires notes to be taken in a single subject spiral notebook (5). In math, the pages of the notebook will not be removed or used for other things. A four subject notebook would not work because one teacher may keep the notebook for that class in the room and the student would not have it for their other classes. Students should have a separate two pocket folder for each class to hold loose leaf paper and assignments. They also must bring their planners to every class.

Science and Math textbooks must be covered with a brown bag book cover or some other kind of book cover that doesn't require adhesive. Tape and other adhesive-type book covers ruin the finish of the book because it is hot in our storage areas here so please do not use any kind of permanent or temporary adhesive material on the books.

Even though students have adequate locker space, we request that extras be kept at home until needed and so they are available to the student to finish their work at home. This includes: glue, tape, scissors, rulers, calculators (we only use them for limited assignments), markers, colored pencils, etc. Backpacks can be used to carry things to and from school only, not to take things from class to class.

A: One day a week students can stay for extra help or to make up work and tests missed during the previous week. This is on Wednesdays from 7:50 PM - 8:40 AM. Students must make arrangements for their own transportation.

Some teachers require that students sign up on before staying on Wednesdays. This is to ensure that the teacher has adequate time to gather the necessary materials for the variety of students that are staying. This also teaches students the value of planning ahead and keeping appointments. Some teachers also provide students with extra credit points for coming to extra help sessions..

A: Yes. There are a limited number of computers, so be sure to make an appointment ahead of time to ensure that there will be computer time available.

A: No, no, a thousand times, no! When you are writing notes to friends you are not achieving your study goals. You will be successful in school if you try to keep your attention on your classwork and studying. That's what it is all about.

The agenda is the student's assignment book. Each day the student should enter what was learned in class that day and list the assignment. The assignment should be checked off when it has been completed. We encourage parents to verify daily that students are completing their work.

Homeroom teachers will check agendas once a week in homeroom for parent/guardian signatures. The parent/guardian only needs to sign the assignment book once per week unless other arrangements have been made with the teachers.

Replacement agendas can be purchased from the office while supplies last. The cost varies each year, so please check with the main office for the current replacement cost of the agenda.

Every student begins the year with a "B" in P.E. class. To get an "A" in class you must have your P.E. uniform every day, participate in the daily unit with effort and do the best you can during skills testing. Remember, a students grade can go the other way by not bringing their P.E. uniform, by being a behavior problem in class or not willing to participate in class.
