BIG THANKS!! Thank you to everyone who came out this summer and helped support our Barnes and Noble book sale. We raised $130 for our school thanks to you. The next B&N sale for St Mary's will be November 30. Thank you to Rep. Bob Pritchard for generously donating an Illinois state flag for us to fly at our school. Thanks to the Steimel family for donating the corn stalks and hay to decorate our school for fall!

Happy Fall!
I'm sure many of you are thinking "it's about time this website was updated!" Sorry about that - it's a lot harder to type with a baby on my lap than I had anticipated!
This year has been great so far. I've met many wonderful new families as well as getting to know some of the old ones even better. Despite the lagging economy we have seen a ton of support for our various fundraisers and lots of parents willing to help out when they're needed. I know that there's no way that Home and School could continue to do what we do if it wasn't for all the help we've been getting.
So, keep your eyes open for more fun things to come. We'd like to focus on more family related activities for the spring semester. Keeping things affordable and available for a wide range of age groups is always a challenge so I encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas with us. Sometimes it seems like we get stuck in a rut continuing to do the same things year after year, so new ideas are always welcome.
We will be setting a date soon for a H&S meeting and we'd love to see you there. Until then, Happy Fall Everyone!!!
Mark your calendars for our second annual Holiday Bazaar. This year we will be holding the event at St Mary's Church and we have almost 30 different vendors coming with a wide variety of wonderful products. Stop by early for free coffee and cookies or later in the day for a yummy lunch. We will also be holding a gift raffle where you can win an assortment of different gifts and a Christmas tree raffle where you can win a fully decorated and lighted tree for the holidays. Each tree will be decorated in a different theme and the winners get to take the tree home that day.
Santa will be available to meet with the kids from 11-1pm and there will be activities for the children to complete while parents shop.
We hope to see you Saturday November 22 from 9-3. All proceeds from the raffles will benefit St Mary's School.
When your kids write their letters to Santa this holiday season, place them in an envelope and bring them to the mailbox in the lobby of the school. We will collect these letters before Christmas and take them to Macy's department store where Macy's will donate $1 to the Make*A*Wish foundation for every letter they receive. (And then they will forward them to Santa, of course)
Encourage your friends and relatives to also complete a note - the more letters, the more wishes can be granted. For more info go to www.Macys.com.
Over 50 people showed up for our family movie night showing of Muppets Treasure Island. The new popcorn machine was a big hit and we look forward to using it again soon. If anyone has any ideas for an upcoming movie night movie, please send us an e-mail (rated G only, please).
If every student in our school brought in just 4 Box Tops each month, we would receive a check for over $1000!! Check out the link at the left to find products, coupons, and other fun stuff related to Box Tops. 
Next time you need to search the internet for information use Goodsearch and St. Mary School will earn money. Make sure to pick St Mary Dekalb for your designated charity and each time you perform a search you can watch our profits increase!
