What Makes a Trained Leader?
Here are the official criteria for training, published in BSA pamphlet number 18-813, New Leader Training. Each leader must also previously completed the Fast Start web-based session or videotape applicable to their position.
- Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters - New Leader Essentials plus Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training and Outdoor Skills Training.
- Troop Committee Members - New Leader Essentials and Troop Committee Challenge.

Remember that Fast Start Training and Youth Protection trainings are available on-line and all adults (parents and leaders are strongly encouraged to take them)
