NETWORK & INTERNET POLICY

The La Moille Community Unit School District No. 303 is committed to Internet safety and the appropriate use of network and Internet resources available in all of its school facilities. All users, employees and students, are required to sign the district's acceptable use policy annually. To this end the following rules and regulations for users will be strictly enforced.

The District employs an Internet filter as part of the web browser software found on each computer workstation connected to the Internet. The purpose of this filter is to provide a means of technology protection against district user access to visual depictions that are: (1) obscene, as that term is defined in Section 1460 of Title 18, United States Code, (2) child pornography, as that term is defined in Section 2256 of Title 18, United States Code; or (3) harmful to minors.

GENERAL USER RULES & REGULATIONS

1. Users will respect the rights of other network users. Users are not to read or tamper with files belonging to other users.
2. Users will not send messages that are illegal or offensive to others.
3. Users are responsible for keeping copyrighted software from entering the school through the Internet. It is illegal to make copies of software that you do not own.
4. Users are not to give out personal information on the Internet.
5. Users are responsible for all material received throughout their account.
6. Users will not install hardware or software on the computer or network facilities unless students have formal authorization through a class project.
7. Users will not use district facilities to store, process or print non-educational material.
8. Users will not give their password to another person.
9. Users will not attempt to access the network through illicit means.
10. Users will not perform unauthorized downloading of software regardless of copyright or virus protection.
11. Users will not use the technological resources of the district in a manner that degrades or disrupts the systems or the network. Users will not take any action that could damage district technological resources.
12. Users will not use district computer resources for private financial or commercial gain.
13. Users will not use another user's account number or password.
14. Users shall not post, publish or display any abusive, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, racially offensive, harassing, inflammatory or illegal material. The district will determine acceptable standards as needed.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
