Board of Deacons The Office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is the duty of Deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith. At First Presbyterian of Aurora, our Deacons are organized into a board, which meets regularly to support its ministry. As with the members of the Session, Deacons are ordained to their office and remain a Deacon even though they may not currently be in active service. They are elected by the congregation to three year terms and may not serve actively for more than six years without at least a year off for renewal. Our currently active Deacons, along with their respective years of retirement, are listed here as a quick reference point for the members of the congregation. Anyone wishing to contact a specific Deacon may do so through the e-mail links provided throughout this website, or by contacting the church by phone at (812) 926-2183.
