Scholarship Program

*This program is for current year Camp Chief Little Turtle staff members.

*Each camp staff member in good standing, who is attending hight school, college, or post high school technical schooling is eligible to participate in the program under these guidelines.

  1. Credits are earned for each summer of service to the Anthony Wayne Area Council, Camp Chief Little Turtle on this basis: 1st summer = 1 credit, 2nd summer = 2 credits, 3rd summer = 3 credits, and so on. For example, a staff member entering college as a freshman and having served 3 summers would have accumulated 6 credits.

  2. Each Credit is worth $100.00

  3. Credits are earned only for those summers of complete employment from Staff Week through the close of camp. Exemptions may be made at the discretion of the Camp Director for staff attending Major Scouting events, { for example World and National Jamborees}.

  4. Application must be made by the Camp Staff member by September 1 to utilize the scholarship. Evidence of enrollment should be produced anda minimum of 12 credit hours completed each semester is a basis for qualification.

  5. Scholarship funds may be used for class fees, books, or on campus housing at any accredited institution of higher learning. Checks must be made out to the institution.

  6. Credits may accumulate as long as the member remains in the employment of the camp staff of the Anthony Wayne Area Council. When a member ceases employment, all previously accrued credits are null and void.

  7. Once a staff member has worked five summers or more they may receive $1,000.00 after each subsequent summer.

  8. Camp staff members in good standing do not include:

    1. Members dismissed from employment. Dismissal voids all previously accumulated credits.

    2. Members who sign a probationary contract because of a previously substandard employment. A staff member who completes a satisfactory summer while on probation, though not eligible for credits for the summer of probation, may utilize previously earned credits.

  9. C.I.T.'s (Counselors in Training) are not eligible for this program. Credit accrual begins at age 16. Staff member must be 16 years of age when staff week begins.

  10. A former camp staff member who returns to our staff after a hiatus of a year or more will get credit only for that year of service, and none previous, but will be eligible at the number of years served level and will not have to start over. For example, if a staff member worked 2 years and left for a year, he or she would only earn credit for that year. The following year they would be eligible at the total number of years served and would not have to start over.

  11. A maximum of $1,000.00 may be used during any one year.

  12. Scholarships shall be awarded and administered under the direction of the Camp Director and the Camp Little Turtle Advisory Committee.
