Lets Talk Permits !!!
Did you know you MUST have a wildlife permit to posess a wild animal ? These are issued by the Department of Natural Resources. You must have training to get one,and you really don't want to get caught with wildlife without a permit.The penalties and possible jail time just isn't worth it.So if you find an orphaned or injured animal, contact a licensed rehabilitator as soon as possible.In my state you can only hold it 24hrs and must be actively seeking help. 		 Federal Permits !!!!
Most birds are protected by the Federal Government.The only one's that are not is the Starling,English house sparrow and some pidgeons . Believe me,you "DON"T" want to fool around with these people,they WILL put you in jail. If you find a federal bird or animal (hawks,eagles,kites,etc)it is a much better idea to call your Dept. of Fish And Wildlife.You can find them in the government section of your phone book.
