HCA NEWS

Welcome to the Association's website!
There is a lot of information on these pages...please take your time and "stroll" (scroll) through them. The weekly reflections are part of the acknowledgment letter which I send to benefactors who have given a gift to Holy Cross that week. Many folks call these "little homilies." You are always welcome to stop back here and read that reflection as part of your preparation for the upcoming Sunday liturgy.
A longer reflection on spiritualiy and everyday life is included on the page titled "Cross Links Reflection." This is a part of our newsletter that comes out five times a year.
We offer many services in terms of wrapping our prayers around yours. If you look on the "Memorial Page," you'll see some of the ways you can invite us to pray along with you. For each card, there is an underlined command which you can click on to upload the request form for that particular card. We would, in turn, ask your prayers for our departed brothers and priests whose obits are on the Memorial Page.
We give you the history and background of our Holy Cross Congregation on the "About Holy Cross" page. Also on this page are photos of our Moreau Seminary, Holy Cross House, and our Administration Building, as well as photos of myself and my co-workers, Carol and Melissa, who lovingly handle your requests and send your cards out to you.
To add to your pleasure in visiting our website, we have added pages entitled "Fr. Herb's Photo Gallery," and "Laughter For The Soul."
There are also links to CSC activities...to the vocation department...to Notre Dame and Saint Mary's...to sites that concentrate on the Catholic religion and on other world religions. I mean...this site is the starting point for a lotta good stuff, if I may say so myself!
Thanks for stopping by and visiting us. We hope you will visit our website often. Please send me any comments or suggestions in the "Contact Us" section at the bottom of the Home Page. You can also add your name and e-mail address. Thanks!
May God bless you and yours, and I hope you have a peaceful day (or night, depending when you connected to us!!).
My special thanks to Dave Flood for all his work maintaining this site.

Love 'n' Hugs,

Fr. Herb

Moreau Seminary, Congregation of Holy Cross, Notre Dame, Indiana

Holy Cross Association was founded in the mid-1950's to help raise funds for the construction of a new seminary at Notre Dame, devoted to the education of future Holy Cross priests. Now, half a century later, the Association still raises funds for the needs of Moreau Seminary. In addition, we also help with the needs of our retired/ill priests and brothers who live at Holy Cross House, right next door to the Seminary.

Despite the Notre Dame address and cards, we have no financial connection with the University. In other words, your support is not for Notre Dame's needs, but for Holy Cross's. The Association is a vital part of the Holy Cross family. And I mean it when I say "family." Everyone pitches in to help with the education of our seminarians and the care of our ill/ retired priests and brothers. The families of these men help, and our priests and brothers "in the field" contribute substantial portions of their salaries. But they can only do so much, and that's why members of the Association work hand-in-hand with the Provincial Administration. Our special ministry is to do what we can to help with prayerful and financial support of the oldest and youngest members of the Congregation. True, your gifts will be earmarked for unglamorous things - like books and beds, pills and pork chops, tuition and therapy, but every dollar you share with us is an investment in the spread of God's kingdom. You may never know this side of heaven how much good your gift has done, but when you come before the Lord, it'll be quite evident how your support has enhanced the quality of human life.

The needed income is raised in several ways...and I always like to use the word MENU in this regard. Five Appeals/Newsletters are mailed over the course of a year, and many folks will opt to respond to these appeals. Others make use of a Calendar which is mailed in November. Each monthly page of the calendar becomes an envelope and a monthly contribution is mailed.

Or, we have other services...we can make arrangements for Masses for the living or the dead, and have Mass cards you can use. All Masses are said by a CSC priest within three months. In addition, many folks use our Golden Treasury Enrollments, which grant the enrollee a perpetual share in the prayers and Masses of all CSC priests, brothers, and seminarians. We also have available Silver Treasury Enrollments, which are for a one-year enrollment. These may be more suited to express your support for someone who is ill, or who is having a rough time, etc.

Because you share our life and ministry, you'll be remembered in the Congregation's daily Masses and prayers. During November, your deceased family members, relatives, and friends are remembered in a special way. During the Christmas and Easter Seasons, you and yours hold a special place in our prayer and Eucharist. If you write and mention a specific need, that intention is put on a weekly "Prayer List," which goes to the major houses of the Province (and the need is mentioned in a way that preserves your confidentiality). Whenever someone in your family dies, the Province remembers that person in a special way. As I said, "we're family!"

Kim Brunner of our Holy Cross Association staff.

All your gifts are tax-deductible (as permitted by current tax law), and are usually acknowledged the same day we receive them. My thank-you letter tries to nourish your relationship with the Lord...that's my ministry to you!

And for what it's worth...we NEVER sell or rent or give out our mailing list.

If you are interested in any of our services, and in supporting Holy Cross, please visit our "Memorial Page" or contact us using the convenient e-mail contact space on the Home Page of this website.

Love 'n' Hugs!
