Victory Banquet #32 was held Saturday night, March 26th, 2011 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. This was a change from our usual location at Wallace Street Church.  The evening was orchestrated by Renetta Trissel who, although no longer officially the Post-Weekend Director, drew upon her wealth of knowledge and experience in her past position to pull off a wonderful evening!

The evening began with a wonderful pitch-in dinner.  There was plenty of good food, as usual, and that famous Tres Días fried chicken to munch on.  Following the meal, we enthroned the Bible, and then Mike Ellis, Nikki Rankin, and Rod Reisinger led us in some praise songs.  The music and singing was beautiful!

Next Renetta invited Lori Craighead, Assistant Rectora, to come up and share her thoughts on the Weekend.  (Rectora Jean Traxler wasn't present—she had just become a grandmother for the first time!)  Lori then asked all the lady Pescadores in attendance to come forward, who shared with us what's been happening in their lives since they made their Weekend.  All the Candidates were truly blessed!  Then the ladies on the Team joined the Pescadores and they all sang their theme song (with a little help from the CD!).

Next it was the men's turn.  Lance Landry came forward and spoke about his Weekend, and then all the men in attendance who just experienced their Weekend recounted how their Fourth Day was going so far.  The men were truly blessed as well!  Lance's Team then joined the Pescadores in singing their theme song (with the help of some songsheets!).

Following the Candidates' testimonies, Spiritual Director and Pastor Brian Nicholson shared an excellent devotion, after which we all partook of the Lord's Supper.  Finally, we retired the Bible, and Lay Director Kelly Beck shared some comments and announcements with those present, and then we formed a big circle and offered a closing prayer.  It was a wonderful evening—another wonderful Victory Banquet to celebrate the lives of new Pescadores who have been inspired to step up their commitment to their (and our) Savior!

I endeavored to take photos of the event with my new camera, but the results were disappointing.  Some of the photos are dark, and some were so dark they had to be discarded.  (My old camera did a much better job on the automatic setting than my new one does.)  The closeups of the Pescadores were shot at a telephoto setting, which requires more light in the absence of a tripod, which I didn't have.  Some of the photos are fuzzy, but I guess fuzzy photos are better than none at all.  To top it all off, my memory card became full before I could finish photographing all the Pescadores from the men's Weekend as they were giving their testimonies.  (Had my resolution set too high—they took up too much space.)  My apologies to you if you do not appear in any of the photos below!  Anyway, the photos that I thought were at least serviceable are presented here, to give you a feel for the event.  Click on the thumbnails to see a larger image.

P. S.  The night was made even more wonderful when we all learned that Butler had won and advanced to the Final Four!
