What are electromagnetic fields? Electric fields are created by differences in voltage: the higher the voltage, the stronger will be the resultant field.

HANDBAGS... ? Have you ever noticed gals who sit their handbags on public toilet floors - then go directly to their dining tables and set it on the table?

Electricity: Why Caution is Important It’s definitely a Monday morning and your shower is doing absolutely nothing to wake you up. You think a little music might help, so you reach out of the shower to plug in the radio. Suddenly you can’t move. You can’t breathe and everything is turning pitch black. The steady pulse of your heart is now an erratic drumbeat and your vessels are being squeezed.

Home and Garden Appliance Safety For most people the home is a place where friends and family can come together, rest, and relax. However, if electrical appliances are not maintained or used properly this safe haven can be diminished in a matter of seconds.

Safety Initiative Restructuring plan

In the coming year your Local Union is planning several important initiatives, none of which is more important than safety, and we need your help. Over the years we have had many team members who have stepped up and provided a valuable service to our membership and we encourage them to continue. As we have all gotten a little older, and our lives a bit more hectic, we have all had to cut back on our involvement in Safety and other work related activities. We have seen the number of safety representatives dwindle, the number of first responders fall dangerously low, and our Haz-Mat and Confined Space teams are in jeopardy of disbandment. This call is to ask all of those who are currently working with the Safety Councils to continue and for those who have been involved in safety in the past or those who would like to in the future to get involved with this new program.
