Picture_006.jpgWhat is CASA?

CASA volunteers are everyday citizens judges appoint to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect. They stand up for these children and change their lives.

The benefits of becoming a CASA volunteer are:

The child understands that there is one special person who is there to help him or her, so the system seems a little less overwhelming.

The court receives detailed, pertinent information to assit the judge in decision-making.

Other agencies know they can turn to the CASA for information and assistance because the CASA has more time to devote to the case.

The community knows there is a way of becoming involved in protecting the rights of children.

Volunteer Training

Find out how you can truly make a difference in the life of an abused or neglected child. Contact the office at 620-271-6197 or casa@wbsnet.org.

CASA staff is dedicated to providing a "voice in court" for every abused and neglected child in the Twenty-fifth Judicial District (Finney, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearny, Scott, and Wichita counties).

This dedication includes providing volunteer training to every qualified person who is interested in becoming an advocate for abused and neglected children. Training is done in group settings as well as indivdually.

We know that daily schedules are hectic and finding the time to attend training can be difficult. To assist you in completing training, CASA staff will attempt to work around your schedule.

Contact the CASA office for more information (620-271-6197 or casa@wbsnet.org). The training is held at the CASA office, 310 E. Walnut, Suite 208., Garden City.
