 CRB Volunteer Requirements
 VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION
The Citizen Review Board as a whole and you as a Board member will be expected to discharge the duties described below.
Board Member Responsibilities
Agree to serve a minimum of a two year term from time of appointment
Participate in initial and on-going training
Review materials received on each case before the scheduled hearing
Attend review hearings on the assigned day
Participate in fact-finding review by questioning case workers, family members, therapists, school personnel, foster or group home parents and other interested parties AND form recommendations to the court
Keep confidential all information reviewed by the Board, its actions and recommendations
Board Member Qualifications
Possess an interest in child welfare
Represent community served. Every effort is made to have a mix of the various racial, ethnic and socioeconomic group of the community
The ability to maintain a non-judgmental, objective attitude
Possess the capacity for responsible decision-making
Pass a background screen as required by the Office of Judicial Administration
Be at least 18 years of age
Meet initial screening procedures, which include a written application containing educational background, employment history and personal experience with child abuse and neglect;
Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and Central Registry checks; personal interview; and 3 written references.
Attend at least 12 hours of pre-service training (at least 2 locally) and 4 hours of in-service training annually (including court or CRB observation)
Sign an oath of confidentiality before hearing cases
Sign a Citizen Review Board volunteer agreement
Be committed to serving as a CRB member for at least a 2 year term
Not discriminate or display attitudes of a discriminatory nature
Not review a specific case if connected to the family in a professional or personal capacity |
