 COMMANDER NOTES

Welcome to May which looks to be a busy month with the Crawfish Boil, Baseball Fundraiser, Elections and Junior Diabetes Fundraiser.
But first I would like to thank all Legionnaires and Auxiliary members who helped with the warrior breakfast and the VA Marion cookout.
A great time was had by all and your help is greatly appreciated.
I'll let Hardy discuss the elections, crawfish and baseball fundraiser in his column.
I would like to talk about our 1st Juvenile Diabetes benefit since we have several members directly affected by this disease.
I hope it will be a big success. It will be May5th in the banquet hall featuring the Craig Russell Band.
There will be a $5.00 cover charge at the door. All proceeds go JDRF.
Thanks go out to Auxiliary members Amanda and Donalyn for getting all this together in "Helping Chasing a Cure with Paige".
Everyone keep supporting the post to help it grow and prosper.

Be sure to check out the calendar for the upcoming events. We have a lot going on this month.

Thanks! Everyone for your support and God Bless America and Post 31

Brad Siress, Commander

LEGION RIDERS

Hey Post 31 the riders are working hard on getting new members to join in the run.
As months turn to weeks and the weeks turn into days until the 1st Annual Memorial Ride for D. R. Johnson it is really beginning to come into shape.
The ride date is June 9th with a rain day of June 16th. The ride will start at Four Rivers Harley Davidson and end at Post 31.

I would like to extend a special thanks to Billy Farmer for getting out and shaking the bushes and getting some really nice prizes
that will be given away the night of the ride.
If anyone has anything that they would like to donate, we can use door prizes and items to auction off that night.
You can leave them with Hardy or one of the Riders officers. They would be greatly appreciated. Also we could use some help the day of the ride.

There will be a bunch of new rides coming up this year and maybe a bunch of new riders coming to be a part of the Post 31 family.

As the weather gets warmer for everyone to be out on their bike please be careful.

Anyone who hasn't paid their dues, please do so.

COME ON LET'S RIDE
Scott Dalton, Director

Upcoming Events

JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, on June 9, 2012 at Noble Park, Paducah, KY.

"Chais"ing the Cure with Paige

Hello! This year, Amanda and I will be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, on June 9, 2012 at Noble Park, Paducah, KY. Along with one-half million other walkers across the country, we all will try to reach our goal of raising $89 million.

Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. My son, Chais, is type 1 diabetic and has been since he was 11. He is now experiencing some of the complications associated with diabetes at age 27. Amanda's daughter Paige(age 13) is facing the challenges of a recent diagnosis of T1D. Like many others, this age (any age) is too young for these challenges/complications.

There is good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.

Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. If you can, please donate to JDRF, in any amount, to further the progress. Together, we can make the cure a reality!

Follow link below to donate.
