Okay, here it is - the secret word is "Frozen"! This is the word for the monthly contest to encourage club members to visit our website. The secret word is on this website and out of context in an unrelated sentence. Read through our site, and write down the secret word with the words immediately before and after on a piece of paper 3 inches by 5 inches along with your name. Bring it to the January meeting for a drawing. You could win a prize! Watch this section for each month's secret word beginning the first week of the month.Friendship! Fun! Food! As our year begins we have lots of hoots (outings) planned and in the planning stage. Check the calendar on this site! Also check the Reminders and Alert Sections below.
The Red Hat Society is for fun and friendship for women age 50 and older. Our club has been blest with many wonderful women, and we are proud of each of our friendly members. At the current time, we have room for a few more wonderful women!

February 2009 Hoot
Although, we originally decided not to have a February hoot, we changed our minds at the officer's meeting in late December. Of course, that is the Red Hat Woman's right!
We are planning to attend a matinee at the new Cinema Deluxe theater near the Florence Mall in mid February. Details will discussed at the January meeting.
March 2009 Tea at the Governor's Mansion
This event has been cancelled due to prohibitive costs which could be as high as $600 for the use of the mansion and the food served. The original invitation was mistakenly understood to be complimentary or a minimal cost.
March 2009 Hoot
In place of the Tea, a trip to explore Wright Patterson Air Force base near Dayton is being planned for Wednesday, March 18. The cost will be $6.00. Details will follow.
April 2009 Hoot
A day of shopping is being planned for Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Downlite Factory Outlet and the Totes Factory Outlets in eastern Cincinnati. We will have lunch in the area. Details will follow.
May 2009 Hoot
A trip to Waynesville, Ohio on Saturday, May 16, is being planned to shop at the Caesar's Flea Market and then to browse the antique shops in the town. We will have lunch at the well known Der Dutchman restaurant.
June 2009 Hoot
We are planning to attend a production at the Kinkaid Theater in Falmouth, Kentucky. The date and show will be announced later once plans are completed.
July 2009 Hoot
Two possibilities are in the planning stages for July: A Belle of Louisville cruise and lunch at the Horseshoe Casino on July 9 -OR-
Red Hat Day at River Downs on Saturday, July 11, if the plans materialize for this event. Final details will be determined later.
August 2009 Hoot
A B&B Riverboat cruise and luncheon is being planned for Wednesday, August 12. Again, details will follow.
September 2009 Hoot
Wednesday, September 16, we plan to attend a matinee at La Comedia theater and dinner show to see "The Producers". Payment must be made at least 30 days ahead of time and this will be discussed at later meetings.
October 2009 Hoot
A Red Hat group picnic is in the very early stages of discussion. October seems to be a good, dry and comfortable month for this event.
November 2009 Hoot
Also in the early stages of planning, we will attend a theater production at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). The date and show will be determined later in the year.
December 2009 Hoot
Our Red Hat Christmas Party at the Airport Marriot on Monday, December 7 will take the place of our monthly meeting and hoot. There will be more discussion this Fall.
Hoot Information
It was decided that we would limit our outings to 6 a year beginning in 2009 (on second thought maybe beginning in 2010!) by eliminating hoots in January, February, June, August and November. These "Frozen" months were chosen due to questionable weather or holiday chaos!
Flower Fund
It has been decided that each of us we will donate $2.00 to establish a flower fund to be used in the event of one of our member's death. Sharon W. will be collecting the money in your own birthday month. Kathleen will collect this in her absence.
Shirley's Drawing at The Christmas Party
The raffle for the Raggedy Dee doll which Shirley made and donated added $121 to our Red Hat treasury. We are so thankful to Shirley for her many talents and love for our group! Thanks Shirley!

Ladies, review the rules of the contest at the beginning of this site AND be sure you have your name on your entry.
