Fun!
Our club has a secret word! Be sure to check here the first week of each month for that month's secret word. Here is July's word: "Lifeguard". The secret word will be on this site to encourage club members to visit our website. It will be out of context in an unrelated sentence. Read through our entire site, and write down the secret word with the words immediately before and after on a piece of paper 3 inches by 5 inches along with your name. Bring it to the next meeting for a drawing. You could win a prize!
Friendship! Fun! Food! As our year begins we have lots of hoots (outings) planned and in the planning stage. Check the calendar on this site! Also check the Reminders and Alert Sections below.
The Red Hat Society is for fun and friendship for women age 50 and older. Our club has been blest with many wonderful women, and we are proud of each of our friendly members. At the current time, we have room for a few more wonderful women!
Our next regular meeting will be held at the Golden Corral on US 50 in the Aurora/Lawrenceburg, Indiana area on Wednesday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m.
The manager has offered us an early bird special for $6.62 which includes a beverage.
If anyone knows of other "Lifeguard" restaurants that can accommodate our group of approximately 50 women and allow us to conduct our meeting there, please inform Jackie or one of the other officers.

July 2009 Hoot
We will be celebrating Red Hat Day at River Downs on Saturday, July 11. Your payment of $22 was due previously and sent to the organizer closing any further reservations. This payment includes the buffet, admisssion, and wonderful prizes! The event starts at 11:30 a.m.
Meet at K-Mart at 10:15 a.m. Give your driver $5.00.
August 2009 Hoot
We have planned a B&B Riverboat Cruise on Wednesday, August 12. The cost of $27.57 was due in May. In addition to the cruise, the payment includes games and prizes, entertainment and a buffet lunch. We will board the boat at 11:00 a.m. and cruise at 11:30 a.m.

September 2009 Hoot
On Wednesday, September 16, we plan to attend a matinee at the La Comedia dinner theater. "The Producers" will NOT be showing. Instead, the production will be "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" which features music from early to modern times.
The cost is $35 and is due by the July meeting. More details will follow.
October 2009 Hoot
Our Red Hat group picnic will be held on Saturday, October 3 at Nancy B's home. We have heard that her lake is stocked and we are invited to fish during the picnic if you are a "fisher woman". Meredith S. has agreed to cater our picnic again this year and members will bring a dessert to share. YUM!
We are still in the early stages of planning and more details will be given in the next couple of months. Thanks to Nancy and Meredith for making this picnic possible.
November 2009 Hoot
Also in the early stages of planning, we will attend a theater production at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). The date and show will be determined later in the year.
December 2009 Hoot
Our Red Hat Christmas Party at the Airport Marriot on Monday, December 7 will take the place of our monthly meeting and hoot. There will be more discussion this Fall.
Report on White Elephant Sale
Our White Elephant sale wil be memorable for a couple of reasons. Our Queen, Jackie, fell during the sale and was taken to the hospital with a possible broken arm. Fortunately, it was torn shoulder ligaments yet very painful, and she will be in a sling for months.
On a much better note, our sale made $640 which is great considering the low turnout of members present.
Thank you, Micki, for your efforts in getting us the use of the VFW Hall for our sale!
Flower Fund
It has been decided that each of us we will donate $2.00 to establish a flower fund to be used in the event of one of our member's death. Sharon W. will be collecting the money in your own birthday month. Kathleen will collect this in her absence.
Shirley's Drawing
Shirley is at it again! Her July drawing is in honor of our country's birthday celebration with "Betsy Ann" a patriotic Raggy Dee doll, a red visor trimmed with the colors of our country, and a Country Friends "Year Round Holidays" booklet filled with ideas and recipes for every month of the year.
You go girlfriend! We love you!
