We've gone a little batty!

Our March meeting was awesome! At our meeting we put together six really cool bat houses! The Berea College Tec club helped us get everything cut out and showed us how to put them together. They even let us use power tools!! It was cool. Now we have six freshly painted bat houses that are ready to be mounted around our community. By mounting these little boxes we are helping our environment by reducing the number of pesky mosquitos in a natural way. Bats can eat around 600 mosquitos in an hour! Using bats to control pests rather than pestisides is a much better idea for our environment, especially since bats are native species in our area! Be watching our calendar for a Roots and Shoots presentation on the benefits of bats!

Coming up soon, we're hoping to have a lot more outdoor programs, including a star gazing party and planting some gardens! Hope you'll join us at our next meeting!

Here are some pictures os us creating our bat houses!

Putting together bat houses is great fun!

A little caulk, please?

Adding some paint! Lots of paint!
