Meet at the old Shreveport Harley Davidson, 805 Brook Hollow Drive, Shreveport, LA. at 7:00, KSU 7:30 AM.

Meet at Bossier City Harley Davidson, 2225 Autoplex Drive, Bossier City LA. at 7:00, KSU 7:30 AM.

The cost of breakfast is donations. All proceeds support the Shreveport Indoor Sports program (CE)

Chapter Meeting March 10, 10:00 AM at 2225 Autoplex Drive, Bossier City, LA.

We will be celebrating the chapter's birthday and are planning an after chapter poker run ride (ME)

We are sponsoring a program called "Bags Not Trash" where we provide suitcases, duffel bags, or totes for children that have to be removed from their homes. Usually their toys and clothes are placed into trash bags and we would like for them to have something better. If you have a gently used "Bag" please bring it to the chapter meeting or contact LOH to donate.

We are also sponsoring a program called Bossier City "Boots For Guys". We will be collecting boots, work boots, socks and grooming items. We are looking to collect new or slightly used boots. Luke Stetson has agreed to spearhead the collection of these items. We will collect these type items at chapter meetings, business meetings or LOH meetings and deliver them to the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission

We are also gearing up for the Bunny Run on March 31 and need donations of items for the baskets. You can either bring them to the March meeting or drop them off at the dealership, or contact Johnnie or Amy. We are trying to cover all age groups from toddlers to teens. Here are a few of the items we need:

Easter baskets
Colored grass
Stuffed animals
Small toys for girls & boys
Coloring books and crayons
Individually wrapped candies
Basket bags to wrap the baskets in
Items for older children, footballs, hand held games, ect

On February 16th, a group of Bossier City HOG members visited the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission and donated 60 Purses of Purpose (POP). Linda Smith also donated a bag of "travel size" shampoos and lotions. We toured the facility and learned what the staff and volunteers of the SBRM do to support our local community. We learned the SBRM has a "campus" at the Joy Home in Bethany, LA that houses needy men. Luke Stetson was moved by the needs of these men and asked what they needed most: Boots, work boots, socks and grooming items. Luke has agreed to spearhead the collection of these items. If you want to help Luke and the men at the SBRM, we will collect these type items at chapter meetings, business meetings or LOH meetings and get them to the SBRM. We are looking to collect new or slightly used boots. So clean out your closets, and donate them boots or purses/bags to help make a difference for someone who needs a little extra help.

Historic-Destinations Visits. Coming in March. Each participant will be given a list of destinations of historical value. It’s similar to Diners-Drive-Ins-Dives, in that participants must verify that they have visited these sites. The Road Captains will plan some of these rides but you’re welcome to ride by yourself or form your own riding group. Those who meet all the requirements will earn a Historic-Destinations patch. Details coming soon!

Non-H.O.G Events (NH) are events sponsored by a person or groups other than a H.O.G. chapter and are included for your information only. Attend these events at your own risk.

Motorcyclists often slow by downshifting or merely rolling off the throttle, thus not activating your rear brake light. This may cause another driver behind you to not notice you are slowing down. Quickly tapping your hand brake or foot brake sends out a quick messege to the driver behind you that you are slowing down. Also, turn signals on a motorcycle usually are not self-canceling, thus some riders,(especially beginners) sometimes forget to turn them off after a turn or lane change. Make sure you are providing the proper "signal" to the other drivers around you. Moving left when your turn signal indicates right could lead you to pulling into another drivers path. Use your tail lights and turn signals as "riding tools" to help be seen and draw attention.

Brake Pads. Replacing worn brake pads is the quickest way to get increased braking power out of a tired system. Various manufacturers make all kinds of different types of replacement brake pads for today's motorcycles. Some claim to last longer, while others claim to give more feel and braking power. However, be forewarned that the manufacturer of your motorcycle put a lot of time and effort into developing your braking system, and there is no telling what a different type of pad material might do to your rotors or how well different pads will work with the overall design and setup of your bike. If you have any doubts, then stick with genuine factory parts. If there is less than 1/8 inches of pad thickness left then they should be replaced. Replacing brake pads should only be done by someone with above average maintenance skills.
