1. God loves you and has a purpose for your life.

He wants to have a relationship with you, for you to enjoy a full and meaningful life: Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10

2. He wants you to spend eternity in heaven with him:

Jesus said, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:3

3. Sin separates us from God.

There is nothing that we can do, on our own, to bridge the gap, make our way back to God, and restore our relationship with him. God provided the way back to himself by sending his son Jesus to bridge the gap with his death on the cross. God is holy and just and must punish sin, yet he loves us and has provided forgiveness for our sin:

Jesus said, "I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father but by me." John 14:6

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

4. We must accept what Christ has done for us by turning from our own way and trusting Christ as our Savior.

Repentance is not just feeling sorry for our sin. Repentance is turning to God through Jesus and turning away from our sin. It's like making a U- turn.

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." Acts 3:19

To trust totally in Jesus means...
We must surrender to Jesus as Lord.

"That if you confess with your mouth, ‘‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Rom. 10:9-10

Surrendering to Jesus as Lord is not just saying we give our lives to Jesus (Matt. 7:21). Surrendering to Jesus as Lord means giving Jesus control of our lives. As evidence of giving Jesus control, you will want to identify with Him. The New Testament way is to confess Jesus publicly (Matt. 10:32-33) and to follow him in baptism and church membership (Acts 2:41).
