Welcome to the KIDS PATROL website

Members receive their jacket after earning 25 points

The Patrol is open to new members at any time. Just show up at our next Patrol meeting (see left) and we'll sign you up and fill you in. Membership is just $1; t-shirt $5.

MEMBERS: Letter to the Editor on controlling litter and anti-littering posters earn one point each time. Other ways to earn points include helping around school, helping a neighbor, visiting the retirement center, assisting another student with learning, and other acts of kindness. Keep a record of your contributions of time to your community in your journal and send copies for points.

KELLY CULLEN - if you visit our site, we miss you and hope you are doing well! Send us an email about what you are doing. Have you started a Kids Patrol in Pennsylvania yet? Good Luck!

Project Idea

Why is recycling so important?

You can earn one point by writing a one page report on the importance of recycling. Go to the library and research recycling and its affect on the environment. Check out landfills, and why people do not want them in their backyard. Find out how you can start recycling in Lafourche Parish. Educate yourself and others on the wonders of recycling. Have fun while learning! Just bring in your report to receive one point towards your Kids Trash Patrol Jacket.

Kid Patrol Pledge

  Reduce Your Trash

Hey Kids Trash Patrol: Ready to learn how to reduce your trash?

  • Reduce the amount of packaging on products which you buy.
  • Recycle your plastic bags at Wal-Mart. Or reuse the bags for trash or carrying items.
  • Donate your old clothes and toys to local thrift shops or relatives instead of putting them into the trash.
  • Buy recycled products.
  • RECYCLE!
  • Place your food scraps and garden trimmings in your compost pile.
  • EDUCATE yourself and others!

Patrol Members Create a Personal Log of their Good Works

Patrol members created journals at their last meeting in which to write down their Good Samaritan acts as well as environmental projects. The journals will be reviewed and points assigned toward a jacket. Ask Ms. Miller about the journal if you were unable to make it to that meeting.

How about a Kids Trash Patrol Jacket?

How can we get a jacket?

In order to get a cool Kids Trash Patrol jacket, you must earn 25 points! NOTICE - This has changed Since, many of you joined later in the year, we felt it was only fair to change the point system. After you earn 25 points, you will receive your jacket and then - you must continue earning points for a SURPRISE gift! To receive the surprise, you must eanr a TOTAL of 60 points.

How do we get points?

EASY! For each monthly meeting you show up to, you get 2 points. For each major event you participate in (such as the field trip in August, beach sweeps & Great American Clean-up), you also get 2 points! And, for each project you complete (posters, letters, designing a trashcan, planting a tree), you receive 1 point. Make sure you take a picture of yourself with the project or bring it to the next Kids Trash Patrol meeting!

When do I get my jacket?

When you earn your 25 points, you will receive your jacket and become a Kids Trash Patrol ambassador! That means, you will help get other kids to join the cool group. This is an awesome job! So, all you need to do is get 25 points. Keep up the terrific work!
