NEWS CHRISTMAS SERVICE PROJECT The American Legion will be holding a Christmas party for Special Needs kids on December 6th. This is an annual event for the special needs kids in the area. For more information, here is a flyer.
We will be collecting gifts to be distributed at the party. Small toys for both girls and boys are requested. Please send the gifts unwrapped, so we know which gender and age of child the gift is most appropriate for.
The gifts can be brought to any scouting function or to the Legion Hall. Wesley Howell will also be collecting the toys. You can contact him by email.
PACK MEETING Our firs pack meeting for the new school year will be Monday, November 10, 2008 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. It will be held at Magnolia Trace Elementary. We will have many awards to pass out and maybe some advancement badges, so work on those requirements. Some time will be spent in the gym for games and sports. Wear your scout uniform to this event. You may wear the activity t-shirt underneath for the sports. There will be t-shirts to purchase at $7 for kids and $10 for adults. Please RSVP to your den leaders so they are aware that you are coming. We are looking for some NEW skits from the scouts and some "help" from the adults. Please come and visit.
If you have any questions, please contact Wesley Howell by email. POPCORN PICKUP

We usually have awards to hand out and adult certificates, so plan on a big event. There is no theme, except for it being Christmas. As always, please let your den leader know if you plan to attend so we can prepare enough food for everyone. Brandy Perez and Johanna Howell will be coordinating this event. If you have any questions or would like to help, please contact Brandy Perez at 985-705-4414 or by email or Johanna Howell PACK T-SHIRTS Pack 85 T-shirts will be available for purchase at the Raingutter Regatta on 11/8 and at the Pack Meeting at MTE on 11/10. Last week Wesley Howell attended the monthly meeting for members of the American Legion Post 16. As usual, he gave a report to the membership of what Pack 85 had done recently and our plans for the next couple weeks. They were aware of the recent dignified flag disposal ceremony that some of our scouts attended and they expressed their gratitude. When Wes requested that the membership of the American Legion make him aware of any used trailers that we could purchase for under $1500.00, questions started being asked on what size, how much, and for what purpose the trailer would be used. He told them all they needed to know and no sooner as that, a motion was made for the American Legion to purchase the trailer. The motion was passed unanimously for the Legion to supply up to $2,000.00 towards the purchase of a trailer. Today, Wes picked up the new trailer. It is the best deal available! We got a $300.00 discount from Jim Oliphant's trailer sales on Hwy 190 because we were a scout organization. The trailer will be owned by the American Legion and be parked at their hall in Covington. Wes will have a trailer lock and door lock on the trailer and keys will be in the possession of the Legion, current Cub Master and current Committee Chair. He will give the pack more of the rules pertaining to the trailer use later. Wes is shopping for decals and lettering for the trailer. The cheapest quote so far is over $500.00! When you see someone with the Legion, please say thanks. The have done so much for us in the past and this is another example of how much they support us.
