SPRING CAMPOUT 2011

Despite the threatening weather on Friday night, the scouts had a great time at the 2011 Spring Campout in April at Fontainebleau State Park!

They learned about various wildlife, wetlands, went on a nature hike and had individual den time to work on acheivements.

Pack 85 SENDS KING CAKES TO TROOPS

During Mardi Gras, Pack 85 sent several King Cakes to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan through Operation We Care.

The soldiers appreciated the King Cakes so much that they sent us pictures! Thank you to all who helped out with the Operation We Care King Cake donations!

DEN TIME

A few of our dens are busy getting those acheivements and activities in before the end of the year!

Den 1 visited WWL TV and is pictured with local news anchors Karen Swensen, Dennis Woltering, Angela Hill, Carl Arredondo, and Jim Henderson.

Den 7 made kites as one of their Wolf Electives to earn an arrow point.

Den 11 went on a nature hike at the Northlake Nature Center and learned the rules of hiking, Leave No Trace, and learned about local plants and animals.

Show & Shine winners: (L to R) Liam McCauley-3rd Place; Jameson Hussey-2nd Place; Tyler Wells-1st Place

Jack Batson walks his car back to the rack after finishing the heat in 1st place!

Scouts cheer on the cars as they prepare to pass the finish line! Congratulations to these winners - and good luck at District!

Scouts Participate in Pre-Game Ceremony at New Orleans Bowl

Scouts from the entire metro area were allowed to participate in the pre-game ceremony at the annual R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on December 18th at the Superdome. Even though the game was a washout and the crowd was very thin by half-time, the scouts had a blast being on the field during the National Anthem. The Troy Trojans beat the Ohio Bobcats 48-21.

Pack 85 Recognized by St. Tammany Parish President's Office

At the start of the 2010 hurricane season, St. Tammany Parish Government officials found themselves overwhelmed with the aftermath of the BP Oil Spill. As a result, they were unable to distribute the annual Hurricane & Flooding Preparation Guide and so they called on scouts from around the parish to assist and Pack 85 was happy to join in. We distributed two boxes of brochures to local businesses, organizations and government offices. At a recent council meeting the Parish Council presented the Packs that assisted with a certificate of appreciation from Parish President Kevin Davis.

Committee Chairman Toni Dupuy and Lucas Dupuy from Den 11 accepted the certificate on behalf of Pack 85.

Pack 85 Participated in Covington Food Bank's Holiday Food Drive
