Campfire
Program
- The campfire
program is looking for jokes, skits, and run-ons to provide
the evening's entertainment on Saturday
night.
- All Songs, Skits, Jokes, and Run-ons should reflect Cub Scouts core values
and Character traits. The Cub Scouts should be the main participants. Any
gifted storytellers (adults included) are welcome. The skit, song or run-on
should
last no longer than 3-5 minutes. A short one is great!
- Please avoid the following according to BSA guidelines:
- Ethnic humor
- Underwear humor
- Boys dressing as girls unless it is for a female character
- Changing the words to patriotic traditional songs
- Excessive violence
- Embarrassing other scouts, parents, adults etc.
- All songs, skits,
and run-ons must be pre-approved by 3 pm Saturday afternoon by the Campfire
Committee (TBA). Please have the script or
be able to describe the skit,
song, or run-on for the approval process. Once approved,
a skit, song, or run-on content cannot be changed.
- If the song, skit, run on is not approved by 3 pm on Saturday, then it cannot
be performed. This is primarily to assure the campfire
program runs timely.
- The campfire will be held at the Council Circle facing the lake. The audience
will sit on bleachers so visibility of the performance
may be an issue. Be prepared to provide flashlights or other portable light
source to illuminate
your skit.
- Sources for skits, run-ons and songs are plentiful. Please see songs and
skits resources at: www.scoutorama.com, http://www.scoutsongs.com/,
http://www.boyscouttrail.com/boy-scouts/boy-scout-skits.asp, http://www.boyscouttrail.com/songs.asp,
http://www.macscouter.com/, http://www.inquiry.net/OUTDOOR/campfire/stunts/index.htm,
and the Cub
Scout songbook. These sites may have songs,
skits, and run-ons
posted that do NOT adhere to the guidelines for appropriateness.
Please review your choice.
- Instrument (guitar, etc) or recorded music may be used. Be prepared with
your music.
- HINTS:
- Echo songs or sing-a-long songs are a great way to get everyone involved.
- Practice and Be Prepared, but don't worry if the scouts don't deliver them
like professionals. It's more fun that way.
- HAVE FUN!
