History & Mission Statement Mission Statement Les Reflections du Bayou is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated in our efforts to organize people to clean and beautify the environment of Bayou Lafourche, thereby enhancing the quality of life and creating greater appreciation for this unique community. ______________________ Our Unique History Les Reflections du Bayou began in 1987 when a group of concerned individuals decided that the trash along the highways of lower Lafourche Parish was so ugly that it was embarrassing. They started to pick up litter and to plant flowers, especially around the historic pontoon bridges that cross the bayou. Since then LRDB has become one of the leading litter fighters in the parish. It organizes both volunteers and community service workers to pick up litter, plant trees, schrubs and flowers on the banks of the bayou, post litter barrels along the roadside, maintains picnic areas, decorate bridges at Christmas time, establish scenic welcome areas and encourage risidents and local businesses to participate in doing their part in the community effort to enhance the standard of living and build community pride by cleaning and beautifying one's own "neck of the woods". Now we have our own little office in a historic building on the bayouside in Cut Off. Stop by and visit, there is usually someone there working. Or call us 985-632-6040. We need all the volunteers and especially those with a heart for an organization like this. If everyone does just a little, it can make a big difference. Thank you. ____________________________ |
