Things to know, remember & look forward too:

Dec 1 General Membership Meeting & SSRC Christmas Party -

At Pat of Hendersons - off 210 Loop, Legion St. exit (east of 210) next to Nissan dealership in Lake Charles. Meal is 11-12 and Meeting is 12 - 3:30. If you are interested in coming, please make sure that you have been included in the head count. If you are just deciding to join us, please email me at rntwade1@hughes.net or call 337-884-8167. If you want to join the meeting but not eat, that is ok. You should still be included in the head count. Just come at 12 instead of 11.

Please bring a $5.00 wrapped gift to exchange. We will have adults and kids in separate stacks.

Please bring a new unwrapped toy for Toys For Tots for the Marine Corp League. They have sponsored several classes for us in past years and were kind enough to cook for us at the 2006 banquet. Hopefully, they will cook for us again this year. No pig though!
Toys do not have to be expensive.

General Membership Meeting -

You will not have a vote on any upcoming changes or officer elections if you are not physically at the meeting. There will be no proxy votes or email votes allowed. All people voting must be paid members for 2008 show season. Therefore, be prepared to complete a membership form and pay your membership fees for 2008 at the Dec 1 meeting. Only persons 18 years & older and a paid 2008 SSRC member will be allowed to vote.

Items up for vote -

***Increase grievance fee to $100 instead of $10.

***Officers should not be paid - To clarify, none of the SSRC officers are paid for being an officer. The announcer, the table help & ring steward is paid for a job that requires them to remain in that position the majority of the show day.

***Start at 9:00 instead of 8:00.

***OCAP charges the club $5.00 at each show; this is paid for by SSRC funds. Vote to continue offering OCAP or not.

***OCAP does not recognize the walk trot wording on the pee wee classes. If the class name say pee wee walk/trot - they do not recognize the class and will not give ocap points.

***Do we keep monthly High Pt/Res High Pt awards for 2008.

***Do we keep High Pt/Res High Pt English, Western & Speed or go back to original All Around as was before.

***Do we want to do a Saddle Series as in 2006? Being in Deridder, this may draw more folks to come increasing year end awards.

***Remove halter grand/reserve during the show. Could still have a High Point Halter horse at year end without doing grand/reserve during show.

***Put trail back in main arena.

***Remove beginner western pleasure fundraiser.

***Remove novice western pleasure class.

***Remove western riding.

***Make western riding all ages like the reining class.

***Remove reining.

***Move stallions back to first halter class for safety reasons & get them out of the arena prior to other halter classes.

***Remove speed events. Alternative - have speed events as specialty classes during summer months; proceeds from these classes would go to year end awards only for these classes and would not be included in all day ride. No sponsors required.

***We have had pee wee w/t and w/t/l classes the past year. W/t/l offers less points for year end all around & high point awards as they are not filled classes. Possibility - only put w/t class as counting for all around & high point awards.

***Change PW from w/t to w/t/l - this would also fix the ocap problem.

***Add pee wee english and western discipline rail classes.

***Add older than dirt halter class - 15 yr old mare/gelding or older.

***Add a "youth"??? category that is a 13 & under w/t - already have 2 pee wee hus & western pleasure classes; would just be adding an equitation, showmanship, horsemanship class to have youth wt and pw wtl classes.

***Do we want to continue to have separate Gen Membership Meeting & Banquet?

There may be additional nominations and suggestions/ideas up for vote at the meeting that are not shown here. This is just a list of items received to date.

****If you have any other suggestions/ideas or officer nominations to vote on at the Dec 1 meeting - you must put them in written form and email to me rntwade1@hughes.net no later than Nov 27, 2007 to be included on the Dec 1 agenda. No suggestions, ideas or nominations will be accepted unless received in written form by this date.
