Course Outline
  • 7th Grade: In seventh grade, all students take Pre-algebra. In this class, they learn introductory algebra concepts that they will use in future courses. The also strengthen past skills.
  • 8th Grade: In eighth grade, all students take Algebra. In this course, they learn basic algebraic concepts, including solving equations and graphing lines. They begin to learn to factor equations.
  • 9th Grade: In ninth grade, students are placed into several different courses. Some students are placed into Geometry. Other students take Algebra I to build on the skills that they learned in eighth grade. This course is much more detailed and covers more material than the eighth grade algebra course. Other students take Integrated Math I, a course that strengthens their math skills and prepares them to take more advanced courses.
  • 10th Grade: In tenth grade, students are once again placed into leveled courses. Some students take Algebra II/Trigonometry. In this course, students use algebra to solve equations that involve parabolas and cubic equations. They also learn basic and advanced trigonometry. Other students take Geometry. In this course, students study shapes and their various properties. Students learn to set up and solve equations based on different shapes. Other students take Integrated Math II, a course which addresses a variety of mathematical ideas, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • 11th Grade: In eleventh grade, some students take Introduction to Analysis. This course is a pre-calculus course that combines concepts from algebra and trigonometry and prepares students for more advanced math courses. Other students take Algebra II/Trigonometry. Still other students take Integrated Math III, a course that builds on basic ideas of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry through advanced problems and projects.
  • 12th Grade: In twelfth grade, students have the opportunity to take AP Calculus, a course that will prepare them to take the AP examination in May. Students may also take Calculus, in which they will study limits and derivatives and integrals of curves. Other students take Advanced Math Topics, a project-based course that combines concepts from previous math courses.
