Carolyn M. Morton founded the Morton Foundation in 1995, as an educational private operating foundation designed to improve opportunities for students and teachers in middle schools and beyond. A graduate of Smith College, Ms. Morton taught history and sociology for nearly 25 years at Bradford College in Haverhill, Massachusetts. After earning her JD from the New England School of Law, she practiced privately before the Massachusetts Bar, as a public defender in Lawrence, and as Assistant City Solicitor for Haverhill. Though she left the Foundation's Board of Directors in 2004, Ms. Morton retains a strong interest in education and in the Foundation's operations.
