Albert Keith Whitaker ALBERT KEITH WHITAKER, Ph.D. whitakal at bc dot edu As a director of the Morton Foundation, Inc., Dr. Whitaker has had ten years’ hands-on experience in foundation management, from start-up through program development. Though his work proposing, researching, and evaluating result-oriented charitable ventures, Dr. Whitaker has gained deep familiarity with personal and charitable trusts and sophisticated estate planning techniques. He also has extensive experience investing through asset allocation in stocks, bonds, and private equity positions. Dr. Whitaker and all the trustees of the Morton Foundation maintain a resolute commitment to fiduciary responsibility and ethical practice.
![]() Albert Keith Whitaker While serving the Morton Foundation, Dr. Whitaker has also held a number of other appointments. From 1998 to 2004 he served as a professor in Boston College's Philosophy Department and in Boston University's Writing Program. As a scholar, he has edited over two dozen philosophical works in translation for the Focus Philosophical Library, which he founded. He has published his own translation of Plato's Parmenides and, in 2004, published a commentary on Plato's Laws. At intervals during the 1990s he also worked as an assistant to the chief of staff in the President's Office at Boston University, where he wrote correspondence and speech drafts for the president. Dr. Whitaker earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago's Committee on Social Thought, which he attended as Jacob Javits and Century Fellow. He took his MA and BA in classics and philosophy from Boston University, and earned a certificate in National Security Studies from Christian-Albrechts University, Germany. In 2004 he graduated from the National Trust School, held at Northwestern University. Dr. Whitaker also works as a Research Fellow at Boston College's Center on Wealth and Philanthropy, and as Director, Financial and Estate Planning, at Calibre Advisory Services, one of the nation's largest multi-family offices.
