We have
accomplished a lot in our first 5 years of involvement with the Swampscott
Sailing Program:
- Revised
the Junior Sailing curriculum, created the Adult Sailing course
- Worked
with the Town to replace the 15-year old fleet
- Raised
money to purchase and donate 4 Club 420 Racing boats
- Restarted
the racing program and sent a crew to Marblehead Race Week for the first time in 20 years.
- Provided scholarships for US SAILING Level 1 Instructor Training
- Refurbished Boston Whaler Support Boats
- Replaced hand-held VHF radios ($750)
We have high
ambitions for the next 5 years. But to
make Swampscott Sailing the Best Town-Based Sailing Program in the North
Shore, we need your help. Our top goals are 1) improving the quality of
instruction, 2) developing the youth racing programs at all
levels, 3) maintaining the fleet and equipment, and 4) establishing a Swampscott High
School Sailing Team. To support those
goals, we need to:
- Purchase teaching aids ($500)
- Replace sails for the American 14.6s ($2,000
or possible sailmaker donation)
- Maintain annual U.S. Sailing membership ($100)
-
Provide entry fees annually for Marblehead
Race Week ($200)
- Purchase Club 420s for Youth Racing and Big
Blue High School Sailing programs ($16,000)
- Purchase a Club 420 Trailer for away
events ($1,500)
- And
aiming for the future: Obtain 2 larger sailboats for the Adult Sailing Program
- J22, J24, or other keelboats – ($20,000)
