There are several opportunities for racing in Swampscott:

Saturday Racing
Come down to Fisherman’s Beach on Saturdays from 9-12 for racing. This is a great activity for Intermediate sailors who want to check out Small Boat racing or for Racing sailors who want to get some more experience. There are also opportunities for Beginner Sailors to crew in the races.

New this Year: Please sign up for Saturday Racing online at the Rec Department website and mail in or drop off your form with $25 per person for four weeks. If you are interested in paying as you go, the price is $7 per person per day. Pizza will be provided at the end of the morning.

  • Saturday Races will be held from 9:00am-12noon starting July 12.
  • We will meet at Fisherman's beach for a skippers meeting at 9:00 and plan to hold several races in the Americans and 420s.
  • Prizes will be awarded after each race.
  • The cost is $7 per student, sailors must have a life jacket, and parents must sign a release form (provided at the beach).
  • The August 2 Regatta will determine the winner of the Cassidy Award, to be presented at the August 8 BBQ.
For more information, contact Erin Clancy at erinmarieclancy@gmail.com.
See you at the races!

Marblehead Race Week
We plan to send another team to Marblehead Race Week this summer. Contact Erin Clancy at erinmarieclancy@gmail.com if you are interested.

Big Blue Sailing
The Friends are working with the Recreation Department and the High School to create a high school sailing club. This club would use the Club 420 racing boats that the Friends have donated to the Town and allow our kids to compete with other local high schools. The target is to start in the Fall of 2008! We are very excited about this new program! Stay tuned for more information....

Thursday Night Racing
The Swampscott Yacht Club hosts Thursday Night Races during the summer. Captains are often looking for crew. This is an excellent opportunity for sailors to get some experience racing a bigger boat. Show up around 6pm to see if anyone needs crew.
