Meet The Coach

Head Coach and Assistant Coach,
Debi and Jess Kesper,
come to us from Portsmouth, Va.,with years of swim coaching experience between them. Debi has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. Debi retired in 2000 after 20 years with the United States Postal Service. Jess is currently a Broadcast Journalism Major at Suffolk University in Boston.
Here is what they bring to this team:Head YMCA/USA Coach for the YMCA of Portsmouth from 1995-2006. League Champions: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006. Jess was the Assistant Coach at the YMCA of Portsmouth from 2004-2006 and assisted in the League wins for 2004, 2005 and 2006. She was also a Gold Medalist in the 100 Fly and 200 IM, holding records on this team for a span of 10 years.
YMCA 3rd Place Regional Champions: 2004, 2005, 2006. Jess was also part of the coaching staff for the YMCA Regional Champions in 2004, 2005 and 2006. She also swam as a member of the Regional Champion 200 and 400 Medley Relay Team and the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay Teams.
Varsity Head Swim Coach for Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Va. from 1999-2006. Jess was a 4 year Varsity Swimmer for Western Branch H.S. and a member of the 200 free and 200 Medley Relay Teams that placed Top 10 at State Level all 4 years. She was a member of the District Champs team in 2006.
Both coaches have had swimmers at District, Regional and State levels .
Head Coach for Elizabeth Manor Country Club summer league from 1997-2003.
Debi is certified as a Level 4 with the American Swim Coaches Association (USA) and Jess is a Level 3 (USA). The highest Level is 5. Both coaches are Red Cross certified in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, First Aid, Oxygen, Water Safety Instructor and Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
Both coaches are YMCA certified in Principles of YMCA Swim and Dive and Advanced Coaches Training.
Both coaches continue to further their knowledge and understanding of the sport of swimming by working with swimmers at both ends of the swimming spectrum – from beginners to elite-level USA swimmers.
