Alpha Service Projects

Relay for Life /
Avon Breast Cancer Walk
A group of Alpha chapter members will fundraise for themselves to walk in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and Avon Breast Cancer Walk.

Daffodil Days
Alpha chapter members will command a repeat performance this semester as they sell daffodils to support the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days program both a Emerson College and in the Prudential Center.

Zetas in Schools
The Alpha chapter is creating a very large school mentoring / place program for members in area schools. Aside from its regular committment to after school programs like Citizens Schools, the Alpha chapter will develop a curriculum to bring hands on experience to groups of K-12 students as well as one-on-one mentoring programs. This is one of the newest, most exciting directions for the Alpha Chapter this year.

Red Cross
Alpha Chapter members plan to establish a stronger relationship with the American Red Cross this semester, involving members in blood drives and advocacy.

Senior Citizens Story Project
Emerson Zetas are developing a program to document chronicles of the lives of Boston area senior citizens.

Community Servings
The Alpha chapter is extending its committment to AIDS Action in the area through continuous volunteer efforts at Community Servings, a Boston area organization that provides meal to AIDS patients and their families.

WGBH Telethon
Emerson Zetas will continue their efforts with the National Community Service project and WGBH, the Boston area PBS Station.

This semester at Emerson!

The Alpha Chapter has been working hard on several projects this semester. So far we have worked on Emerson's "Free For the Weekend" Program, Daffodil Days for the American Cancer Society and Emerson's Community Service Fair.

Also, a group of Alpha's have been working with Citizens Schools Apprenticeship Program. They are working with a group of 9-14 year olds making a Public Service Announcement that will be used to promote Citizens School and will be shown at Emerson later in the year.

Currently, we are working on the Bowl-a-Thon to benefit the American Cancer Society (April 13th). Eddie Jones and Kristen Modesitt, our wonderful Fund-Raising and Community Service Chairs respectively, have been hard at work getting donations from local businesses.

Alpha will also be out and about in Boston selling Daffodils once again for the American Cancer Society (March 22-23), and will be sewing blankets for the "Welcome Baby" Program to benefit families in need (March 24).

Keep checking back to get the latest on all of these great and worthwhile projects!
