About Us
Blessed Lambs Preschool and Mom's Day Out are ministries of La Plata United Methodist Church's Weekday Childcare Programs. We believe that each child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually to his/her fullest potential. We are a non-profit, early childhood program sponsored to provide a quality early childhood education to the children of the congregation and surrounding community. Blessed Lambs Preschool and Mom's Day Out are licensed by the Office of Child Care of the Maryland State Department of Education. Both programs are located at the La Plata United Methodist Church in La Plata, MD.

About Our Staff
As a Christian Preschool, we have brought together staff members according to their talents and spiritual gifts; we encourage the staff to share these qualities with the children. In addition to having professional education and relevant experience, we require all teachers to be a professing Christian and have a genuine love and concern for young children. Participation in professional conferences and in-service training opportunities are provided regularly for all staff members.

Blessed Lambs Preschool Program
The Blessed Lambs Preschool provides loving Christian education for 3 and 4 year old children. Structured classes for the 3 year olds are on Tuesday's and Thursday's.
There are two classes for the 3 year olds: The first class is held between 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.. the second class is held from 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.. The 4 year old classes are held on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., September through May. | |

Mom's Day Out Program
Who doesn't need time away from the little angels? We have a very good program that provides loving Christian care for preschool children, ages 2 years through 4 years, while providing their parents with the opportunity to have some time to refresh themselves. Meetings are on either Tuesday or Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., September through May.

Blessed Lambs Preschool Goals and Objectives
- To provide opportunities for children to grow in a Christian environment which will include Bible stories, verses and songs.
- To encourage independence in a variety of activities and situations.
- To learn appropriate behavior for a variety of situations, which will include individual as well as group activities.
- To help children find acceptable outlets for their emotions.
- To learn and practice fine and gross motor skills through encouragement and supervision.
- To expose children to developmental^ appropriate literature in order to promote communication of ideas, thinking, imagination, language development, and stimulate listening skills.
- To encourage the exploration of the world around us through science and math activities.
- To encourage math skills through sorting, classifying, and measuring during both structured and unstructured activities.
- To explore and create with a variety of art materials.
- To provide opportunities to hear many kinds of music and to sing, move, relax, and respond in other ways to music.
- To promote awareness of colors, shapes, letters, and numbers.
- To encourage and monitor appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
