• A get-together has been scheduled for this Monday, July 13 at 3:00 PM

Groundwork to rid out, clean, and organize our church will begin this day. Please make time available in assisting this endeavor. It will not be a one day occasion. We need your help. Contact Jane Wagner to sign up for times to help. If we do not hear from you, expect a call. There is much to be done—setting, reading, & sorting, filing, cleaning out, etc. There will be something that everyone can do. This will be a combined effort of everyone who claims FCC in Cumberland as their home.

• August 4, 2009 at 5:00-6:00 PM—interested parties may attend the first meeting in preparation for the Old Fashion Christmas Open House of our church to the public. Those wishing to have a say, mark you calendars to attend.

• Meeting of Constitution (Guideline & By-laws) for the small church is being planned beginning in January 2010. Check back for further updates

•What does it mean to be an Elder or Deacon? Soon to come Study!

•Major repairs are needed for the preservation of this historic building. Events and projects are in progress to raise funds to fix the orginal century old slate roof.

The history behind the building of this church began with the donaton of land and foundation stones by Thomas Shriver, the Mayor of 1848 and the structure commensed with a congregation of 35 members under the charter as German Evangelical Luthern Church. The designer of the building was Harry Schmenner, a then member of the congregation. The building was completed and dedicated in March of 1850. For more history click on to "some history" on the Home site.

The Christian Church, Disciples of Christ congregation purchased the building from St. Lukes Luthern Church in 1942 to carry on the work of the Lord in this structure with a history. The small present congregation strives to keep this church a "church" in worship to God.

Anyone wishing to save this historic structure and support this endeavor may do so by contacting the pastor or Mr. Jim Miller, Building Representative through the church office.
